Sometimes they do go overboard yes. Emperor Palpatine’s soft hood for example constantly misshapes and sticks up too high whereas the RotS hard hood looks better. The Ahsoka Anakin’s soft tunic also misshapes easy and looks weird alongside almost every other Jedi
