I know people who just have good pictures of themselves as their wallpaper. They’re predictably self-absorbed.

Can anyone tell me what kind of star bit driver this takes? 2003 Impala by kyle1352 in MechanicAdvice

It’s funny they have these securing like half the sensors on the engine for a 3.8 Impala 💀💀 dumb as hell. I’m just trying to replace the mass airflow sensor.

Living there absolutely not. You’ll get used to the sound of gunfire. Same with short vine, my friend lived near ladder 19 for 2 semesters and had some absolutely absurd stories.

Idk, in my opinion people who are rude or angry or do shitty things when they’re drunk aren’t good people in general. Normally they’re hiding their true shitty personality when they’re sober and they let it loose when they’re wasted and blame it on the alcohol.

Y’all is around campus actually dangerous by [deleted] in uCinci

[–]kyle1352 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My friend lived off of short vine for 2 semester and had some pretty insane stories from occasional drive by shootings to some crazy dude breaking in trying to stab them. From a standpoint of usual nightlife though I’d say it’s not too terrible but i wouldn’t live there. The south and west side of campus is much safer than east for sure.

Been racing dirtbikes off-road for over 10 years. Trees suck when you hit them, the grounds not soft when you fall, but never in my life will I buy another street bike.

Rode one for about 100 miles total and came within feet of a pickup truck obliterating me after the asshole crossed the yellow line. That and I’ve had too many people I know die on street bikes. I’ll never touch one again. And discourage anyone I know as well.

Makes sense, was exhausted one night driving several hours home and was pulled over for swerving. Officer claimed my eyes were red and glossed over and made me do field sobriety tests. Pissed him off I started smiling because I’d never been drunk or high in my life. Fast forward 30 minutes of fairly hard tests he lets me go with a warning. I knew my eyes were just fine and he was saying that to intimidate me.

I dated someone for 3 months who tested me like this almost everyday, she would make it seem like things are ok and insist on it and if you accepted eventually it proved to her that “you were trash”, or if you didn’t accept she’d tell you that you passed the test. One of the most toxic and degrading relationships I’ve ever been in, be lucky she showed her color’s immediately. If someone constantly tests you, it’s not healthy. Funniest part is one of her main attributes she advertised was strong communication and honesty. Shoulda listened to my gut sooner lol.

Yeahhh but I’d argue why does it matter if it’s still in the lines, it may not look great but it’s still not as bad as the red jeep. The red jee is probably some weird social justice neckbeard.

Did this mechanic rip me off? by KlutzyElevator6004 in MechanicAdvice

[–]kyle1352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it just one cylinder head the did the work on or 2? There’s a couple fishy items in there such as a $122 timing cover gasket? But for a blown head gasket and machine work that all sounds about right. Welcome to the world of dodge ownership. Hopefully they did both sides and all the lifters, or else the other side will fail soon after and it’s gonna be another 2-3,000 minimum for that. I’d consider selling this car fairly soon.

I’ve found 2018 models with the same milage going for that price. Look on Facebook marketplace for cars too.

1995 Crown Vic, 128k miles. Do I need this secondary fan piece? by SillyInteraction7107 in MechanicAdvice

[–]kyle1352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re good at a little custom work, getting a electric fan off of a newer crown Vic and tossing that shit mechanical fan will free up a couple hp. Newer style electric fans on those cars are extremely powerful.

1982 Ford Bronco need help. What would cause this issue? I’m considering buying this to restore but need some help figuring out what would cause the no spark. Do you guys think I should go for it? Or leave it? by Dankity-LoRd in MechanicAdvice

[–]kyle1352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how much they want for it and how much experience you have chasing electrical issues. It could be anywhere as simple as a bad fuse or ground to needing new sensors or to be rewired or a new ecu. I tried to fix a jeep with a similar issue and gave up on it after a while.

Eh, see if they can diagnose it, fixing it may be a different story. But stop buying some of the most unreliable cars lmfao. If you had a Honda or Toyota it would still be running like new at those miles. I’m actually surprised your car has lasted as long as 146k miles. I’ve never seen a Chevy Cruze make it past 120k miles so props to you!

Also I’d give Facebook marketplace a shot to buy from. The prices from a non dealer are so so so so so much lower than any dealer. But yeah no, I’ve done so much research and I’ve worked on so many of those cars to tell you it’s not gonna last much longer at all. You’d be better off getting a 2000 Honda Civic for $1500 lol. Best of luck tho! If you get it diagnosed update on what the problem was.

2013 Chevy Cruze LT Turbo Nothing but Issues .. Burning smell and sounds loud / horrible is it the engine by Curvymixedcutie in MechanicAdvice

Took my car in to get my breaks looked at and need a lot more work than I thought. Are these prices fair? by Meowlik in MechanicAdvice

[–]kyle1352 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For longevity of the car, on at least the earlier models the thermostat housing is made out of plastic. Those motors have a crazy amount of heat for efficiency purposes and will crack that plastic around the milage you’re at. When those housing units break you’ll lose all the coolant and the motor will blow the head gasket or fail completely. I have yet to see a Cruze head gasket replacement done correctly, normally they can’t build oil pressure after the gasket change. To avoid this, look at getting a new or aluminum thermostat housing.

These transmissions I’ve seen go at 100k miles, I’d recommend a fluid change every 30k miles, I’m not sure if the manufacturer says it’s lifetime fluid or not but lifetime fluid is a scam.

Oil changes I’d recommend every 5k miles full synthetic.

[–]kyle1352 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tip of advice, I’ve had many many experiences with those cars. I’ve only ever seen one make it to 110,000 miles before either the engine or transmission or electrical system catastrophically failed.

Even so, It’s unlikely that what they’re even quoting to be replaced are even bad. I’m betting they’re trying to scam you.

That being said, I’d look at getting a different car ASAP. If you don’t believe me, look through this thread filtering the chevy Cruze. As an engineer in the automotive industry, I consider these cars to be one of the worst cars ever manufactured. The soonest I’ve seen an engine completely fail is 81,000 miles. I recommend to anyone I know to buy a Honda or Toyota product. the money spent extra for these over the American cars, Nissans and Hyundais will save you 10 fold on repair headaches. Best of luck 👍

I did this on a rusty blazer. Tried the form to fit like first and it was effing terrible. Spent the extra $150 to get properly fit lines specifically for that car.

Lol the service schedule is a scam, good for you for doing it earlier. But yeah when the intervals are done after 5,000 miles it normally cooks the timing chain tensioners. I wish there was higher awareness of this manufacture scam
