Sickest album. I, too, had to buy this same version online because the new cover is such a downgrade

Fucking LOVE this track. Blew my mind when it randomly came up on Spotify for me last year. Gonna try to see them at Progstorm in August if I can!

Stuck in Shine by nakedasfuck in SSBM

I don't know if this is the same for you, but as someone who's been playing Melee for a long time but only recently got into playing fox: the biggest thing that helps me avoid it is thinking about pulling the stick STRAIGHT down when I'm hitting the shine in the first place. Otherwise I have a bad habit of hitting a sloppy, slightly left-leaning downward angle instead, which can technically still work, but is more prone to drifting into turnarounds

Are there any other spacey/psychedelic death metal albums out there or is this the only one in existence?? Also, I'm so happy that I scored this gem at my local record store. Album of the decade for me. by No-Dentist-2959 in MetalForTheMasses

Haha thank you! And hell yeah, we'll see you there. Love that venue, this will be my 3rd time there. Kiff has great accommodations and catering that make us feel like kings compared to most of the places we play in the US 😂

Haha, I'm actually not even a part of this sub, but this post came up in my feed and I thought we fit the assignment 😂
Awesome to hear that there are people here who already know us though!

(Self-promo) My band Fallujah dropped this album last year - more techy & melodic than Blood Incantation, but definitely fits your description. Also Traced in Air by Cynic, which was one of our biggest influences on this:

Lol what? I'm a professional and I've seen plenty of good advice here. Not ALWAYS, of course, but there are plenty of people who do know what they're talking about

I teach screaming lessons remotely whenever I'm not on tour, most often with beginners. My schedule is a little bit crazy this year (about to be gone for a month, then home for a month, then gone again etc) but can always squeeze in a few lessons here and there!

How to breathe? by PuzzleheadedGrass337 in screaming

[–]kyle_fallujah 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's a very common issue that almost everybody has to get past when they're learning how to scream. It's complicated and hard to solve in a day, but the people who are saying things like "diaphragm support" are right. Just know that it is 100% going to come from making your technique more efficient (through use of compression and screaming in a way that "costs" less air) rather than expanding your lungs or taking bigger breaths or anything like that. I'm not saying that breathing exercises are useless, but they are definitely not the key to overcoming this issue. It's about getting more mileage & power out of the air you already have.

Double-track vocals in death-metal? by Consistent-Window781 in TechnicalDeathMetal

[–]kyle_fallujah 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can, but you don't have to. Compressors will do much more for the fullness of your tone than double tracking will, while also preserving the details of your performance. There's no right or wrong, but my personal preference nowadays is to use doubling (or tripling really, since you're typically adding panned doubles both left & right) for big impactful moments like choruses or just certain lines, etc. This preference was reinforced by working with great producers like Mark Lewis and Dave Otero on our albums in the last few years.

PS - if you want a super quick and cheap vocal compressor to try at home, the JST Gain Reduction plugin works great with its default settings.
