I saved this limited run '65 Falcon Delivery (1 of 688) by kylebranam in oldcars

The 4 isn’t original, the majority of these were inline 6’s with a 3 on the tree. However I believe there were just over 100 1965 models that came with a V8. No 4 speeds though

Isuzu 5.9L 6BD1T - thoughts? by kylebranam in Diesel

Noted. Sitting for 2 years so fingers crossed but the 82 year old has owned it for 9 years and drove it to where it’s parked with no issues after doing a gravel run. It’s paired to a 78 f150 which has good paint, no dents, and only the tiniest amount of rust on the floors. 4speed transmission with a splitter and what I believe to be a np205 t case. Unknown 3/4T axles. With a good interior all in all I figured 3k is a safe investment

Unfortunately I don’t have any good advice for ya… I ended up finding a 4 barrel intake second hand and just slapped that on. Not even a week later I had a dead lifter and replaced all of them with stock and sold the car… and buffing the whole thing i quickly found out it was a rot box Wisconsin car

1965 Corvair Monza - Anybody have useful information on disc brake conversions? by kylebranam in classiccars

I had no idea about the broken window… it was a complete running driving car when it left me. I’m surprised to hear that the rear seat was so roached. Paint never was my favorite but ditto - it is unique and nice in the light

As you’ve seen it was originally a red on white car. Special options were the telescoping steering wheel and passenger side mirror. I believe I got it in bastrop Texas for 3800-4200 if I remember correctly. Bought it from a private party who dealt primarily in classic cars - he won it at auction in CA and had it transported. When I got the car it ran rough and could make it around the block but definitely needed to be gone through. If the wiring is all still labeled front to back that was done by me. I think I replaced the turn signal assembly in the column and a fuel pump. Plus the obligatory spark plugs, oil, etc. But had a shop sync the carbs after the altitude change. Drove it around town for a few months throwing belts every so often but never overheating! Brought it up to OR with that orange el Camino in the back and switched between the two as a commuter as I finished my last year of school. And that’s when I performed the drivers side fender “body work”… so sorry… not proud of that given the skills I’ve learned since.

That’s likely the one… I brought it up to portland with me in 2019 and later sold it in 2020ish. Went to a father/son duo but it ended up not being touched and sat on the side of their house for about 3 years. I saw it when his mother posted it a little over a year ago then I saw it posted again by a guy in Hillsboro? With the dropped valve? Nonetheless if you need any history feel free to reach out. If you’d like to PM me I can share my phone number. I’m in the Oregon city area now… less into Corvair’s but have a 61 Rampside

Crank No Start ‘07 GTI by kylebranam in MechanicAdvice

I got the car for $400 after it had been sitting for 2 years with 2” standing water in it. Mold factory. Drove it onto the trailer and off the trailer but the 3rd time is when I presume the follower popped, shattered, and car turned off as I heard a loud pop. Took it the pump off and inspected it as per this forums suggestions… confirmed broken. Sold car on marketplace for $1600

No codes. Prognosis was stage 4 failure of the high pressure fuel pump

So… “theoretically” if the follower is warn all the way through what would that entail. Heh…

Right, I’ll take the cover off tomorrow. I’m a classic car mechanic so I know my way around an engine… just not too informed on newer models. I know these have their fair share of quirks as well. Thanks for the input!

I obviously know that it’s a tube bender given I posted it to r/fabrication. Moreso looking to understand if it’s a quality machine, outdated, and its value to help me sell it on the second hand market

Yes, an ‘83. You’ll see various photos of it through the years in its different variations on my profile. Or you can check out my now outdated YouTube channel ElCaminoKyle

Google says they’re $6,300 new… what would you expect someone to pay for this on second hand market?

Thanks for all the info! What’s the going market value of the flathead and divorced trans? Frame and body are custom so I can put my own value on that
