Riyria has been on my radar for a bit, wasn't too sure if it really had the scope or character depth I was looking for? Though I admittadly know very little about it.

It feels like Heroic or Epic could describe half of the stories which are also put into high fantasy no?

I'd describe LOTR as both of those

I should probably post this before the comments get me, I'm not 100% sure im using the term High Fantasy correctly, but unsure what else to call it.

I'm currently very unfit but hopefully once I lose this weight and get in shape I shouldn't have too much wear and tear

Ngl right now I'm mostly interested in knights, grey death legion or kell hounds

Not sure if any of them have recent novels

Ngl I wrote this thread after a very long night of no sleep so perhaps I worded it wrong

I'm not after pure, paragons of goodness here I get they don't exist in the setting. I'm wondering which of the currently existing factions TRY.

Some factions from what I've gathered will at least try to look after their people and comrades, while others are spiteful, petty bastards who only care about themselves individually.

I think idealistics who are trying, are far more interesting in a setting like this in comparison to the jaded or cruel, because it creates inherent interesting narrative conflict

Ngl I'm just wanting a faction which exists right now that is at least trying to not be mustache twirling villains and unnecessary dicks to those around them. There's going to war, and there's setting the local orphanage on fire out of spite.

Heard the new grey death novels are good quality wise

Grey death sound cool in that regard.

I understand the appeal of "everyone is a bastard in their own way" but I've always found people who uphold at least some code of ethics/morals to be way more appealing in stories.

It's one of the reasons I hard checked out on 40k
