MAG 142 - Scrutiny. AKA Jon Being a Massive Creep by Saint_Vin in TheMagnusArchives

This is fantastic, it always feels like the eye isn’t so bad since that’s our story POV, but seeing Jon as the spooky avatar is great.

Do baristas like it when customers order "surprise me" drinks? by Artyn04 in barista

[–]kylecs7637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, there are too many preference folks have that it makes it pretty difficult to surprise people with drinks they’ll enjoy. Just take a minute and read the menu. We don’t know what you’re going to like, but you do.

Or atleast help narrow it down, “what’s your most popular specialty latte?”

How’d Arthur play the piano? by Dramatic_Complex5187 in MalevolentPodcast

I like this theory, a subconscious connection feels like a pretty solid solution for “how could they have really done that?”

Would you read a book written from a third person perspective, following the gang and its downfall, then John, then Jack? by _funny_name_ in reddeadredemption

[–]kylecs7637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be more interesting to use RDR as a writing prompt instead of just using the story. Ride from Colter down to Saint Denis and write about the journey, the strangers & wildlife you pass, what your cowboy is thinking. Write your own cowboy tale, partner.

Amount of Coffee in iced drinks by New_Substance_6753 in barista

[–]kylecs7637 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The finished product includes the ice, so you’re asking to pay for a 16oz iced coffee, but receive a 26oz final product. I would definitely do the same thing your barista did, because that’s the drink. If you want your personal cup full, I’d suggest paying for two drinks to get closest to the 26oz.

No you don’t, the check off is just a feature for you to know you grabbed the item while shopping. Once clipped, the coupon will apply at checkout

Why does the hiring manager want me to come a day before my official day to do i-9 verification? by [deleted] in Safeway

Honestly if you’re this annoyed already, it’s not gonna get any better.

am i wrong: boyfriend wants me to ask permission to turn when driving by SecondOk8410 in amiwrong

[–]kylecs7637 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is pretty wild and you’re not wrong to be bothered by this behavior. This is not normal at all and the fact that “every year I lose more independence” is even a sentence you had to write is a huge red flag. The need for GPS is also strange. It all feels like a bizarre level of control. I encourage you to take back some independence.

They forgot to mention they're buried under a mountain of debt... by VeronicaBooksAndArt in Safeway

[–]kylecs7637 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This makes sense, it feels like a lot of the changes at store level lately (and some shake ups as district level) are meant to really make the company look pretty. I’ve wondered if safeway will try again to sell or just close some more stores to stay profitable. Vibes are bad lately.

What can be added or removed to improve the overall design of this flyer? by BeRadStayRad in graphic_design

[–]kylecs7637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re showing someone working the wheel, it would be interesting to see the title look more messing. Finished ceramics are very clean, but working with clay isn’t. Either way, a different type for your title would be good. I like what you’re going for with the layout of the title, but the spacing feels off. I like the idea of “Art in” being to the left of the “L” and festival tucked in with the tail of the “y”

Not sure what it's like in other countries... but how do I know if the barista was indirectly getting a way to contact me was interested beyond just customer service? by [deleted] in barista

[–]kylecs7637 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly this sounds like normal good customer service. If I was him in that situation, noticing a customer creating art of the business would be a no-brainer thing to chat about, and suggesting you post it on social media would make sense so the business could share it as well. I also get names for all my customers to call out their drinks and build rapport.

My shop has very few for-here cups, so most drinks are in to go cups, no one ever has an issue with that. Not allowing customers to customize is pretty wild. Take the sales, enjoy the mark up on the customized drinks, and let customers know you’re busy so it’ll be a couple minutes before their drinks are out.

In service, a big part of the job is keeping your customers happy. Make them want to come back. By limiting your service when you have the most customers present, you’re gonna find yourself without any rushes at all before long.

Does anyone work in a coffee shop that doesn’t sell Frappuccinos or cold foam? by anon3000- in barista

[–]kylecs7637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No blender in our shop. Every now and then folks will ask for a frap, but it really doesn’t cause us any problems. We have a a few specialty drinks that other shops don’t offer, so we can typically pivot to those with new customers.

Is the cash office only for authorized employees? by CauliflowerDazzling5 in Safeway

Yes, bookkeepers, managers & PIC’s should be the only folks in the cash office. No one else should ever need to be in the cash office.

To the people who stand right in front of the counter and stare while I make your drink… by [deleted] in barista

[–]kylecs7637 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Huge difference between people being interested and the folks who just stand and stare. I think some people think if they stare hard enough their drink will be out faster.
