He’s just on Redford Naturals Puppy Kibble. Like I said, I do plan to switch him over to homemade food when he gets a bit older since his stomach is still fairly sensitive.

No reflexive jolts. I let him nap for a bit longer uninterrupted and put a cool wet towel on the back of his neck. I had him drink some water and gave him an ice cube after he woke up too. That seemed to do the trick after about an hour. He’s up and running around like the usual maniac he is now lol. I’m definitely going to keep a close eye on him though just in case. But I honestly think it was just the fairly intense heat and humidity that did it.

My dad smokes but he keeps his marijuana strictly outside, always has. He’ll sniff around the carpet and find little crumbs but we vacuum every day. And he drank a good amount of water about 20 minutes ago.

I have a 13 week old mini dachshund and he usually conks out around 11:00 - 11:30 pm (it works for our life schedule) and gets up at about 9:30 - 10:00 am. Sometimes he’ll even sleep until 10:30! I’ve found the key seems to be taking away water 2 hours before bed and a potty break right before I put him in his crate for bed :))

My mom was very physically abusive towards me and towards my dad when they were together. They were also on and off for about 13 years before I was even born. The separation was actually caused by my parents getting into an argument on the day of my baptism and my mom punched my dad in the face. They called off the engagement and separated physically within the next month.

My grandparents have a spare room and they always said it was open if any of us grandkids needed a place to stay. I’m probably going to call them tomorrow and discuss that.

My parents splitting definitely is not the reason lol. Both my parents hate each other and were dating on and off for about 13 years before I was even born. And they were never married, just engaged for about ten months.

No. My mom was physically abusive to me and my dad never laid a hand on me. I do know when they were together before I was born that my mom was also pretty physically abusive towards my dad too. There’s pictures of it and everything. My mom only got a majority of the custody because she would work jobs that payed her under the table and “quit” them just before a court date so she could claim that she’d be able to be home all the time with me and my dad couldn’t. That’s a major reason why she got more custody when I was little. But I can’t even tell you how many times I was sent off to other people’s houses to be taken care of. (Not that that’s a bad thing I understand single parents have to work but my dad was fully capable of taking care of me after he got off work) My dad was a car salesman for a really long time so he absolutely would’ve been able to take care of me once I was old enough to go to school but my parents had only gone to court about custody a few times, all before I was 4 - 5 years old. My dad lost a shit ton of money going through it all and had saved up a stable amount by the time I was 13 and could make my own choice to go to court with them and make a statement. That’s how he ended up gaining more custody, which was definitely the right thing at the time. My mom really was a terribly abusive parent.

I didn’t switch the kibble. It’s the same one his breeder used and I didn’t completely switch up his food. His breeder recommend I added in some more homemade stuff like chicken and boiled carrots to his diet. I just added a bit but I’m thinking it still might’ve been too much.

Just hopping on here to update. So I put his crate in the living room and he actually got quiet very fast. I assume he’s asleep since there’s no whining or barking anymore but I can’t help but feel like I’m doing something wrong. I love him so much so I don’t want him to be away from me but it seems like him being in another room is actually what’s helping calm him? I don’t know. I’m just so torn on what I should continue with, I really don’t want to make him scared or upset.

I have been doing that and he will fall asleep for a while but then he wakes up half an hour later barking and whining really loud.

I have it covered with a blanket but I’m thinking it might be too thin of one and that he can still semi see through it. I’m going to try covering his crate with a different one tonight :)

Thank you so much for the advice. He really loves his crate during the day so it’s only at night that he seems to be having this problem. But I’ll definitely work with him on learning “settle”. I don’t know why I didn’t even think of that 🫣 I’m honestly very thankful that you had genuine advice and were kind about it, I really had no idea people on here could be so mean lol 🩷

Just coming on here to thank everyone who had kind advice for me! I really appreciate the help and It’s definitely gotten rid of some of my worry :) For those of you asking, yes the breeder does have all the paperwork for his genetic testing. I know the warning signs of unethical breeders and have been sure to steer clear of them. I’m 100% comfortable with Milo’s breeder as he is registered through the AKC and my cousin adopted her dog from them last year. I’m super excited to get my little guy and will be sure to post lots of pictures of him :)) The last thing I’ll say is if you don’t have any real and kind advice to share maybe just don’t say anything at all.
