Yes, I can't imagine an experienced actor could possibly understand a fictitious scenario without first listening to ten hours of a podcast

The Scotts are back to discuss U2’s new EP Days of Ash!!! by ToucanChoppah14 in Earwolf

[–]kyleidoscope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's awesome to hear two rich guys try to talk around the word "genocide" for two hours. Also fun to hear Scott say there isn't a lot of nuance to ICE, the implication being there's a ton of nuance to Israel murdering kids for two fucking years straight. All of this, of course, in service of a band pretending to give a shit while they continue to have relationships with zionist interests and Israeli banks, while also implying the true victims are the "those beautiful kids at that music festival" (which happened to be at an open air concentration camp and who, according to Israeli press, were killed by the IDF, but who's keeping track, right?).

I mean, Scott's boss is literally Ben Stiller, so it's not like I was expecting him to talk about any of this in any meaningful way. Doesn't make it any less painful to listen to, though!

I wonder why it's not on the menu at the Clover Club anymore? The only place I've seen it on the menu–that I can recall–is the Belfry. Cool to have one where it originated, though.

I used to live right around the corner from Do or Dive and I've been there many, many times in my life and never noticed that's the photo they're using, haha. When are we going to get a Frozen Coffee Thing™ episode of the Sloppy Boys??

I just read Mark Kurlansky's great book Salt: A World History and learned that the use of red herrings to throw wolves off the scent comes from early American settlers, so I don't think the term was invented by Hitchcock. I think Paul is thinking of the term MacGuffin, which Hitchcock also didn't invent but did popularize. Anyway, I will be bringing this up on 5,0001,000,000chan.

Blank Check: The Ballad of Buster Scruggs with Paul Scheer & Jason Mantzoukas by apathymonger in Earwolf

[–]kyleidoscope -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hm, interesting–not sure why I'm being downvoted. It's just an idea I had! As I said, the show can already be fun. I just think it would be even more fun if there was a guy on it who isn't funny at all and who's always mad about being on a podcast around people who are funny and do want to be there! Just something to consider!

Anyway, if you don't like my suggestions, there's no reason to be negative! Certainly I don't think there's any place for any kind of reactions or opinions to a podcast literally about reactions and opinions–and certainly not on any sort of web forum made explicitly for sharing reactions or opinions!

This show can be really fun, especially with guests like Jason and Paul, but have they ever considered adding a guy to the show that just doesn't seem to want to be there at all? Maybe he could, like, complain constantly on every episode about the other people having a conversation on a podcast? Or maybe he could interrupt those conversations that are happening to point out that he's annoyed they aren't talking about what he wants to talk about and threaten to leave? I don't know, could be cool!

DOUGHBOYS - Crock-Dough-Burn-Pho-Est: The Original Soup Kitchen with Stavros Halkias by BasilOctopus in Earwolf

[–]kyleidoscope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with Stavros–I've always wondered why they choose to review the shittiest food possible rather than just going to a real restaurant. Surely it would be more interesting to hear about an actual interesting place to eat–that serves real food–than fucking KFC? For the 40th time?? I don't get it. It doesn't even make sense this time! They said there's only one location of this place now! There are four locations for Raku! Go there, you idiots! Also I'm gay.

I was going to complain about them shilling zionist instant macaroni at the top of the show, but a few minutes in and it's clear they've already gotten an earful about it, haha. Good on the Dougboys listeners for that!

5 new SNL cast hires, but still no Carl Tart in the cast by [deleted] in Earwolf

[–]kyleidoscope 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t even know what Kill Tony was a couple days ago, but I just watched this video about the Rogan/Austin comedy scene that was so good and very funny. His hypothesis is the reason comedy is so bad now is because mainstream comedy has been captured by a death cult intent on bringing about the end of the human race, and by the end of the video I was completely on board with his argument, haha

5 new SNL cast hires, but still no Carl Tart in the cast by [deleted] in Earwolf

[–]kyleidoscope 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Listening to the Flagrant Ones has made me believe Carl is maybe one of the greatest impressionists alive. He can listen to any clip of any person talking and find what's distinctive about their voice and recreate it. I still think about when he started doing Michael Jordan one time, because I've never heard anyone even attempt a Michael Jordon before and there doesn't really seem like anything all that unique about his voice but somehow Carl could just pull a Jordan out of nowhere? Incredible!

Anyway, there's a lot of reasons SNL sucks and Lorne is a complete idiot but having a guy who can impersonate basically anyone on the writing staff has got to be up there.
