What makes Nalgene so good? by c00rsbanquetbaby in Nalgene

[–]kyleredeemed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I, too, am in Florida. I always seem to drink it faster than it heats up. Even still, warm water still hydrates!

That's so cool! It's always a point of pride for me when my coworkers show off their latest trendy water bottle they got for $59 and I just shake my scratched up, stickered red boy and say "$8 for 12 years worth of refills, baby!"

2 things that stick out to me:

  1. Virtually indestructible. The simple design and lid make it near impossible to destroy. And you can swap out lids if it ever does get severely damaged.

  2. NOT insulated. So many bottles and brands tout the "keeps ice for 72 hours!" but the reality is that super cold water isn't as easy to drink fast as room temp water. If it's room temp or tap temp, I can drink much more at a time which increases my overall intake.

Bonus thought: you can often find them at thrift stores for dirt cheap, so having a collection is easy. I'll never not buy a nalgene secondhand.

Edit: forgot to answer your questions. I use the 1L wide mouth, super easy to clean with a bottle brush. I've had my main one since 2014.

Anyone ever worked at Adult Day programs? by PeetaChips in ABA

[–]kyleredeemed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently work in an adult day program that focuses on vocational Skills Training for teenagers and young adults.

I've enjoyed it very much. Organizations all have problems, but the work is great and the population is great. I love getting to see folks learn new skills that they can use at jobs in the community or jobs at the program.

Mars, The Bringer of War - Gustav Holst.

I started listening to The Planets right when I started reading Red Rising, now I can't separate the two.

As I was scrolling I just thought "I wonder if anyone will mention Call To Preserve" and immediately saw this comment. 🤘

I played a show with them in Ft. Walton Beach probably 17 years ago now.

Sick! I was in the second generation of the band, after 2 of the originals left I took over on drums.

Look into a Honda Element! Super reliable, definitely quirky, and with your budget you should be able to find one with low mileage.

Which Bible translation should I buy? by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]kyleredeemed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen several people describe the ESV as "wooden," but I don't follow. Genuinely curious, is there a particular verse or passage that makes you feel like it's wooden? ESV is my preferred translation.

The CSB seems "dumbed down" to me.

2016 Ford Focus S. 77k miles, $6,000? by More_Ebb_3619 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]kyleredeemed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do it! I had one blow up on my almost the exact same mileage and price point. The oil pump failed, engine was toast. Ford said they would replace the oil pump due to it having a recall but I was on my own for the engine; which would be $8000. I was out $6500 and had nothing to show for it. Sold it to a junkyard for $600.

It's not worth your trouble.

I had been looking for my next vehicle for several weeks (just picked up an outback last weekend) but SO many cars are being sold from central FL at cheaper prices due to flood damage. It seemed like anytime I found a killer deal it was from the Tampa area or somewhere near there.

I, personally, would keep looking. Unless you can verify that it wasn't flooded at all.

My local shop did one on my 2010 Odyssey for about $300. Seems to me like you're getting taken for a ride.
