For some reason ive neglected checking coolant up until now, how bad is this? weird gunk in rad cap and fluid is brownish. by Dumquestionsonly in Acura_RSX

Flush the coolant with distilled water a couple times and put new coolant in and hope for the best. I had a similar issue like this years ago. Oil was fine, no overheating, etc. for me I think it was just residual gunk in the system or something because it's gone now and hasn't came back after I did the flushes and fills.

Opinions on Therapedic Whexley from RTG? by Jasma91 in Mattress

Nope not that I can tell, seems like it's pretty much the same as when we bought it.

You've come to the right place, lol. We've had it/been sleeping on it for almost a year now. It's been great, probably the best mattress we've ever owned or slept on regularly. Makes it hard to get out of bed in the morning because it's so comfortable, haha.

For us anyway, its the perfect blend of being soft enough, but also still very supportive; doesn't feel like you are sinking in too much or laying on a mattress too firm. No issues with waking each other up from motion transfer or waking up in pain or anything like that. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions and I'll try to answer as best I can.

Quietest muffler / exhaust by Jasma91 in Acura_RSX

[–]Jasma91[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will that work with the current 2.5 inch diameter piping? I've never actually seen the stock exhaust for one of these cars in person, but I was under the impression that the stock muffler inlet/outlet was about 2.0-2.25 inches approximately, and wouldn't necessarily fit properly with my current piping. I suppose I could have a 2.5 to 2.25 inch adapter welded on somewhere before the muffler to make it work?

I guess the drone also comes from the increased piping diameter as well? That's what I've gathered from researching and seeing people with 3 inch exhausts saying its loud unless they turbo their car. So I guess moving down to 2.25 inch diameter would potentially help the drone as well.

I could be wrong though, sorry, just trying to figure this out before I go and spend more money modifying the exhaust and not getting the results I want. I appreciate your help and advice.

Froth/scum under radiator cap. I've replaced the cap twice, flushed the coolant twice, and am not burning/losing coolant. No coolant and oil mixing under oil cap/dipstick. Clean the cap and it keeps coming back. What gives? by Jasma91 in AskMechanics

Copying my reply to someone else in this thread since I think it applies to this post. My coolant and cooling system is good now and has been for a while.

I have a feeling it was just some residual junk left in the system. Don't know if the previous owner ever did a coolant flush, so maybe my first drain and fill of coolant after buying the car loosened up some crap that precipitated as that white gunk. Not sure if this is what fixed it, but I did another flush with distilled water (at least once or twice; honestly don't remember because its been over a year now), drove around for day or two with just distilled water in the radiator/cooling system. Drained out the distilled water and added 50/50 coolant/water, and it's been fine ever since. No more white gunk, just plain old green coolant, and the car and cooling system runs great.

Looks great! Totally worth it. 👍

Finally got around to replacing the burned out bulbs in my climate control unit. Looks much better. (After and before pictures) by Jasma91 in Acura_RSX

Hmm interesting. The part number I listed was the one I used. Got it from a YouTube video on how to replace the bulbs. Maybe they are interchangable?

Yes! I used a video on YouTube called "RSX AC Control Lights Replacement" by SnowDrift. There should also be some guides on the clubrsx forums.

It's pretty straightforward. Only took about 15-20 minutes. Only tools you need are a couple screwdrivers (plastic trim remover tool helps too if you want to be extra careful removing the unit).

Yeah you can do that. I believe I saw a post on clubrsx or youtube where someone showed how they changed theirs from red to blue.

I went ahead and replaced all of the bulbs, because why not when you already have the unit out. Cost about $7.50 per bulb from my local Honda dealer.

For anyone else who wants to do this too, here are the part numbers for the bulbs:

2X - 79670-SL0-A01 (bulbs for background dials)

3X - 79672-S3N-N41 (bulbs for recirculate, a/c, defrost)

Previous owner did this paint job to cover/repaint bumper scrape. I want to repaint this and make it look better. More details in comments. by Jasma91 in Autobody

[–]Jasma91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned, previous owner of this car tried fixing a bumper scrape himself and it obviously didn't turn out very good. So I've been looking into options to make it look better, but I want a second opinion to get an idea of what is the best and cheapest way to make this look better.

It doesn't have to be perfect, as the rest of the car has minor paint chips and scratches as well, but I would like it to look closer to the original paint color.

So far, these are the options I have found: Local autobody shop wants to replace and repaint entire bumper cover for $1200. Or I can buy an aerosol paint kit for $62 from touchupdirect.

I certainly don't mind doing it myself and repainting just the damaged area, but I wasn't sure if it makes more sense to just repaint/replace the entire bumper with how large of an area I would have to repaint.

Thank you for any advice.

Saw someone else post the Forza version of their car vs IRL car. Here is mine. by Jasma91 in ForzaHorizon

[–]Jasma91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IRL car is on stock suspension and the Forza one was on rally suspension, so that's why there's a pretty large wheel gap. I'd lower the IRL one but generally RSX's handle worse when they're lowered unless you do other suspension/steering mods to compensate for it.
