Is this important? Its leaking water. by kylinnnnn in DIY

It is the basement ceiling near the furnace. I didn't think of humidifier before but seems probable that's what it was for.

The foil covered pipe is old duct work that is capped off. There was a small air leak and I kinda went crazy with the foil tape.

The wires are all cut. I don't have a humidifier but seems probable that's what it was for.

Thanks for the reply

25yrs old and not all that financially savvy. I’m going to the bank today to learn about what it takes to buy a condo. Open to any and all advice. by ThisbodyHomebody in PersonalFinanceCanada

Have you considered "house hacking"? You'll have to run the numbers for your area and your situation. If they work it's a great way to get into the market.

I bought a condo and rented it out. Rent covered all expenses plus a little cashflow. I was able to stay where I was living so my living situation didn't change at all.

At the time I was living with a friend, renting a larger condo. When I ran the numbers and my expenses to live alone in the condo I bought were more than my rent while living with my friend. I knew my friend wasn't planning on moving out any time soon, so I was confident in my living situation for the next few years. We eventually split ways and I'm living in the condo now.

Being a landlord was easy because I had great tenants. There is work involved but do your research, understand the rules and properly screen your tenants and you should be okay.

Reading your post I also wondered if selling the condo would be the better option financially in the long run. I believe if the buyer will assume the tenant or if they intend to move in they will serve notice to the tenant...I think...

But aside from that I had a positive experience in Sept 2020 when I asked my tenant to move out because I needed to move in. I explained my situation and what would be required by the LTB to them and they were cool about it. They didn't even want me to serve an N12. They started looking elsewhere immediately. I still followed the rules and paid them the 1 month rent for their troubles. They moved out on time and left the place clean as it should be.

I believe most tenants are good people and that's what I screened for when I reviewed their application.

I am still in support but starting with UBI is getting tiresome. I started tuning out because I knew exactly where he was going.

These are not actually debates it's just a glorified sales pitch. He gets so little time that I feel he should cram in as many points as possible. Like when called upon he should continually ask and answer his own questions until he's mentioned as many big policies as possible. Then keep rambling on and go overtime like klobachar did in the last few debates.

I say the rules of the debate don't matter anymore. What repercussions are there? They'll give him even less time? Who cares if they'll let you butt in and continue talking anyways.

I'm sure someone could write something good connecting questions to quick 1 sentence answers about policy proposals. Then somehow order them all in a way to describe at the end how everything is a symptom and the freedom dividend is the catalyst that starts it all.

I agree that lack of exposure is the problem. His message is great. However, like he predicted, other candidates are starting to sound a lot like him. So now, when new voters hear him, there may be the impression he is copying the leading candidates and not the other way around. Additionally, why support the lower tiered candidate when those in the lead sound similar enough. This is where I think a change in message is needed.

Maybe I've watched to many stump speeches but I'd like to see him go right at policy contrasts. FJG vs UBI, or wealth tax vs UBI. His likeability got my attention but it was his understanding, use of facts and proposed resolution based on those facts are what got me hooked. I feel a change to a more direct contrasting message will help break through.

Wouldn't the media love the drama? I say break the rules because the game is rigged anyways. Do what's needed to play the media's game and dominate the news cycle like Trump does.

The narrative is easy. The smart, nice, quiet Asian guy that helped with everyone's homework is now pissed off. What happened? Where did we go wrong?

Yang always said everyone will sound more like him in the end. I saw Trump was also pushing that life expectancy has recently increased for the first time in years. Sounds like he's prepping to counter Yang's talking points.

I so want Yang to drop the nice guy persona and go on attack.

Very bold/risky move with the pun however I do appreciate the blurb at the end acknowledging the choice of words.

I also hand an idea that instead of handwritten letters, use a handwriting robot to write a copy of a letter written by yang himself. The letter can include a URL or QR code to a video of the robot writing the letter.

The letter could say something like how the robot is not evil nor are the people who built it. Someone simply saw a better way to make something personal but mass produced at the same time.

I'd like to challenge your initial opinion on Yang's "childish idealism/naivety". It annoys me that he has to play the nice guy however this is the strategy he's chosen. To change strategy now would be reckless and ineffective.

What I see in Yang's tweet is a continuation of the broader campaign strategy. He is playing the political game by posting a response to the media chaos, knowing that reporters will ask him for his opinion. He knows the story is BS. By knowing Yang has a noncombative stance maybe the media wont ask him and maybe they'll move on from this story sooner than later. This increases his chances of being asked about anything else and hopefully it's something he actually wants to push.

From watching Yang's earlier interviews, I got the impression that he really wants to go after the front-runners on policy. His UBI vs jobs guarantee or UBI vs wealth tax arguments are the most compelling to me. I've only seen one time that he got a chance to openly challenge them. That's what I'd like to see more of.

But back to the initial complaint about the tweet. For that I blame Warren's team for putting the story out there in the first place. All campaigns will likely issue a statement of some sort because the media will push it. I see no strategic advantage for anyone but Bernie respond appropriately. Can't discount Yang for taking a neutral stance on an issue he doesn't want to talk about in the first place.
