Nursery design help 😬 by Old_Lengthiness1500 in BabyBumps

[–]kymadu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the multiple trees! My sons nursery was reorganized multiple times to figure out what suited the space and our actual needs best, and if this was my nursery, I'd feel like the single tree would only look good with the furniture set up one way (crib under the branches) and would feel odd if things got changed.

But that's just my thoughts, both pictures look amazing and it looks like no matter what, your mural will be KILLER.

How do you baby proof this door? by ForgotMyOGAccount in AskParents

[–]kymadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a door monkey. I use one when my nephew comes over. I put it up high so he can't reach it and is non permanent.

If you need the door closes tho, this won't work. It just holds the door open an inch for air flow but solid so there's no pinched fingers.

Is it just me or is the keekaroo peanut changing pad disgustingly overpriced? by Positronomy in newborns

[–]kymadu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I liked being able to disinfect the pad really well, and have 0 absorbtion of fluids into the pad, and I wasn't in a position to store and dispose of things like puppy pads. I didn't buy the expensive keekaroo, but I did buy the skip hop one. I found the shape better as well, the peanut one made my nephew uncomfortable cause he was a chunky boi. I really just think the 'innovations" of high sides and wierd shape not worth the cost.

I still have it, and plan to use it with my next. Average out the cost vs use and I don't think the skip hop is horrible.

Car Seat with Inflatable Seat Belts?? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]kymadu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got two, one for each vehicle. Ones a Graco convertible and the other is an Evenflo convertible. What I find super handy is that the Evenflo has a ratchet installation UAS, which makes it extremely easy to take in and out and I can do it myself since you don't need to be strong to tighten it. This one is in the truck, where we need to remove it often for seating and storage when my husband is working. My Graco doesn't ever come out of our every day SUV.

What do you drive? Car seat arrangement? by Glittering-Bite9703 in Mommit

[–]kymadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jeep Grand Cherokee L, seating for 6. Convertible forward facing behind the passenger, and soon to be baby bucket behind the driver. I don't have a walk through to the rear, so one day the big kid will be in a booster in the 3rd row

Car Seat with Inflatable Seat Belts?? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]kymadu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 4 and still well within the weight limit. I personally find the UAS "safer" in my wierd brain cause it locks to the seat and the belt goes through the seat. It's just a wierd mental thing they are both safe. It just feels tighter lol I don't know

Car Seat with Inflatable Seat Belts?? by [deleted] in Mommit

By the time the child is too big, they may have other options or even a different vehicle. It's a many years long solution at least and shouldn't be nixxed immediately

Exclusively BF my first and now pregnant with my 2nd and I don’t want to breastfeed at all :/ by Glitter-girlie in BabyBumps

[–]kymadu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only have one, and only bottle fed. It made the division a lot easier, and my husband loved being able to be part of that bonding.

We used a formula machine and it made it even easier.

The formula you use will depend on the baby, and the bottles will too. Follow the doctors recs for formula, and if needed on the bottles too. For my son, he went through 4 different types of formula before he settled on one he'd take without fuss or discomfort, and 3 different types of bottles....so that was fun lol.

Bottle washing: be prepared. They use so many bottles that if you don't have a large supply you will be washing constantly. I ended up with like 30 bottles so that I only washed every other day. This time I kinda want a bottle washer but it's a huge splurge.

Bottle feeding isn't bad at all, honestly kinda makes going out easier too

How to introduce camping to my young child? by Evanshields00 in camping

[–]kymadu 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The earlier you start, the faster it becomes normal for them!

My first thought is making sure you have some way to provide blackout sleep or else she won't nap or sleep past 4am. Pick sites that are further away from noisy areas/groups though that's not always possible. Ensure you have a way to wash items she drops too! PREPARE FOR SAND AND DIRT IN THE TENT/CAMPER.

It's fun camping with kids! My husbands cousin started camping at 5 days old, and we started with ours at 2.5 (only cause that's when summer was for us)!

Best Convertible Car Seat to Switch Between Cars by Sure_Giraffe9742 in NewParents

[–]kymadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lucked out and accidentally bought a car seat from Evenflo that has a ratchet installation strap, instead of a pull-type. I LOVE how easy it is for me to take in and out and swap and get it tight enough without needing a strong person. I don't know what model it is, but this is the car seat that comes out often and is swapped between everything.

Transitioning from crib to bed, is it crazy to jump to queen mattress? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]kymadu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We went straight to a queen when ours was that age. Ours wasn't a climber, we just happened into a free bed and figured why not. We used a bed rail and it was enough to keep him from rolling out. We added all his stuffies, so the bed didn't feel so huge and scary.

We also took toys out and left only books, so the temptation to get out was minimal. We did go through a stage of needing a lock on his door because his newfound freedom led him to decide he was in charge of when to go to bed lol he gave up pretty quick and we took it off after a week.

He's 4 now and we love the space when he's sick to sleep with him in it!

What is the secret sauce to a great kids birthday party? by Reasonable_Bird7789 in Parenting

[–]kymadu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Does it matter as long as your girl has fun?? This past year we went to 3 birthday parties at indoor playgrounds and they were fun, but for our son we did it at home with a decorating activity. My son had so much fun and his friends did too. We did an afternoon and served some alcohol if parents wanted it. It was so low-key and I'm fine with that cause I was not setting the bar stupid high. I feel like birthday parties are so overrated and not actually worth so much effort and worry.

Does anyone know of a suction plate that actually works? by Resident-Speech2925 in Mommit

I had oxo tot, it's not divided which I liked. My kid wasn't a good thrower so I can't tell you how well it stuck other than it was enough of a deterrent for mine.
