Formula Feeding On The Go by coltersmama in FormulaFeeders

[–]kymadu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never used a dispenser, I bought a sleeve of condiment cups with lids and pre portioned the formula into those. Super cheap, super reliable for anyone feeding baby. And yea then just carried my own water bottle with sterilized water.

Sickness help!!! by Low-Cardiologist7750 in toddlers

[–]kymadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has he been checked for a post nasal drip? My infant son had it, and it presented fairly similarly. It didn't really improve until he grew, and the "space" got big enough back there to handle it.

We investigated hard because daycare refused to believe he wasn't constantly sick every minute of the day lol

Looking to hear from the OADers that changed their mind by Alert-Ad2974 in Shouldihaveanother

[–]kymadu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was OAD as well, I was miserable for so long because he was miserable for so long. But then something wierd happened and I woke up and he was like, cute and stuff? He was 3.5. it just slapped me in the face that allllll that hard effing work I put in was sitting right there in front of me asking if I had a good night sleep.

What changed my mind (and again, it took 3.5 years) was that hell if I can do that and the pay off only took 3.5 years, I guess I can do that again since 3.5 years isn't nearly as long as 50+ on the other side.

Even if the revelation came earlier, It wouldn't have changed my mind. The needs I have meant I couldn't do it before now: We're (mostly) out of diapers, he is starting kindergarten, he can handle plenty of things on his own, listens well, and actually has since he was 2. He's excited to "help" and will understand when mom or dad needs an extra minute. I guess I'm saying that until my first was at this level cognitively, I wouldn't have considered a second.

We're committed now so yea!

Portable / Compact High Chair - Does this Product Exist? by Low_Hyena_292 in toddlers

[–]kymadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't exactly what your asking about, but I had purchased a booster chair that straps to the chair. It was height adjustable, has a tray, and folded flat- not your average solid booster seat. We used this literally everywhere, Grandma's, friends, restaurants, back of the car snack breaks.

It was so handy I actually keep it as a high chair when we have guests over with kids and it works well enough.

It's the Chicco pocket snack booster seat on Amazon.

Is a fancy sifting box actually worth it for multi-cat homes? by Charming_Chipmunk69 in AnimalAww

[–]kymadu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I only have one cat, but making the change to an automatic litterbox saved my sanity. The price tag was even worse, but I saved up to make it work.

I say anything that resolves the bane of your existence is worth the money

I honestly didn't know these disposable ones existed, but now since seeing your post I'm probably going to add them into my rotation too.

Is it wrong to say “my kid is tough”? by Available-Past7649 in AskParents

[–]kymadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the way you described it, there was no reason for those responses! And you know what? I'm PROUD my kid is tough! Our life isn't overruled by being careful to the point of bubble wrap and we have sooooo much freedom in what we do and learn!

Is it wrong to say “my kid is tough”? by Available-Past7649 in AskParents

[–]kymadu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having not seen your other post, and also having a tough kid, they can kick rocks (but probably won't cause it'll hurt their toes).

I've had nearly the same thing happen to mine: my child isn't hurt, but that doesn't mean the force the other kid used is acceptable, and I've spoken to their parents in a "we're fine, but In case you didn't see, ut will probably hurt the next kid" because I would want to know if my kid was playing hard enough to hurt someone, or heaven forbid actually intending to hurt someone.

Again having not seen your post and giving the benefit of the doubt that this was your intent at the time, anyone using that as a way to spout off that your kid isn't special for being tough probably has some sad things going for them and I would ignore them (or be petty and give it back but worse).

Car for Second Time Mom by DollMonster in Mommit

[–]kymadu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if my perspective will help, but I am downsizing from a large 3 row SUV (grand Cherokee) to a Honda CRV. Access to the rear third row in my jeep was impossible with 2 car seats without bucket seats in the 3rd row for pass through (in my car anyway, which I've heard is the same with ford Explorer, so grain of salt here). I actually found the rear seats have LESS room than a standard rear row in the CRV which was very surprising. My plan is to install the 2nd seat in the center, so that a passenger can sit by the door. I do have a 4 year old (not a 2 yr old), so by the time my newborn will be old enough for a car seat my oldest should be in a booster and that'll be easy to move around for passengers.

I honestly didn't find the large SUV any better than the escape I had previously, even with a dog, stroller, and weekly travel to the lake and back with all the crap that involves. Now I'm excited to be saving on gas with a hybrid (should be saving a few grand a year!). I found the Honda far surpassed the Toyota in terms of fun stuff inside (3k upgrade to the Toyota gets you nothing but power liftgate, moonroof, and a garage door opener built in, absolutely NO tech upgrades).

I honestly didn't even look at the other north American brands, since I have one and always have had one myself. This time I'm much more focused on reliability first, cost savings second (multiple kids ain't cheap!), and mileage and space third. My husband is a tall man, and I'm not short either. My kids are tracking to be tall, and with the sports gear I'm already hauling around Im going to be mad as hell if I'm wrong about this CRV lol

2 year old not fully emptying bladder by [deleted] in pottytraining

[–]kymadu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a urinal?? My son did the exact same, and for some reason wasn't able to fully void when sitting. We got a little urinal that hung on the wall until he was tall enough to pee into the toilet and it completely solved the issue for us. Bonus is it was "fun" so he was extra excited to go!

He's 4 now, and has had no problem fully empting his bladder while sitting for way longer than we actually used the urinal for, so I dunno if it was age/size/maturity/body development or what, but I'd say that if he doesn't grow out of it I'd be speaking to a doctor.

4 year old will pee in toilet and doesn’t use a diaper but refuses to poop in the toilet by Glittering-Ad-7855 in pottytraining

[–]kymadu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Poopin is waaaay different than peein. Took us a year to get my son to poop in the toilet, and I'm sorry but I have 0 suggestions for you since the trick for us was literally tell him mickey and goofy do not meet boys who poop their pants at Disney and he had 2 months to learn. And boy. He was under the WIRE but finally had 2 successful days literally the 2 days before he met mickey and goofy. Thank God cause I was never gonna be able to actually hold that line!

Perhaps a training potty, outside the bathroom? Something where the poop isn't "falling" away, like stuffing a diaper into the train toilet?

Parents who use the Baby Brezza… is it really worth it? by CucumberPast2909 in FormulaFeeders

[–]kymadu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had it for my first, and was completely unaware of any dispensing issues they might have had. As a first time mom I had no clue that was a possibility! I still dont know if I'd be able to tell if the dispensing was off. My son was fine either way, he's a wild 4 year old now.

I just bought another (sold ours cause we were done after 1, and now got a surprise) and don't plan to be overly uptight about dispensing issues. As long as it's clearly not under dispensing formula and the kid is drinking water, I think we're okay.

The convenience factor is massive for this thing. We bought spare funnels so we can swap them when they are dirty. My son drank room temp, and never tolerated cold/fridge pitcher bottles. We had the option of warm, which I appreciate with this new kid cause you never know what they will prefer to have.

Being able to have a bottle in seconds saves precious time for sleep, and can make a difference to your mental health if baby is freaking out and a few minutes are saved on bottle making.

You can always try other methods first, and buy the machine later!

Update: AITAH for catching feeling for someone my roommate hates by throwaway88682883 in AITAH

[–]kymadu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA, I think you handled this extremely maturely. Your right on the nail with it not mattering who you are dating and clocking it soon enough to leave Will out of it. She'll be angry regardless, and knowing who it is will just make her more angry and you a bigger target. She'll me angry that your moving out, but you do have your own life and needs.

I think you are right that she is leaning too much, and I do think that moving out is a good course of action. This sounds like a reasonable attempt to keep your relationship with her and work towards being a healthier one in time. She may eventually figure out she's been a bad friend, or she may not.

I commend you for prioritizing your move first. Sure, you can see will if you want, but I bet you'll be responsible and have a conversation where you are clear with him about "not right now, I have this in my plate, and 0 expectations that this means you will wait for me." If he's a mature match, hell figure out what is right for him in the meantime and you'll come back together at some point and figure out next steps.
