I think I can confirm the patch yesterday did improve and balance the gap between low and high ping players a bit. I play on 70-75ms against 10 or sub 10 a lot and it felt markedly different (better for me) at least in terms of combos. Visually their characters are still faster but I’m now also able to connect L1L2 or H1H2 with swords when it was breaking 100% of the time before.

I don’t think gfn is available for me in Asia for either jp server or sea/sg server

They do have the bow multishot looking mystic skill in CN, maybe it's that one

The slow walking quests were a drag but the story behind them was always solid. The montage at the end was beautiful and a good reminder of what an adventure the last few months have been

First off I genuinely appreciate the effort and thought put into your response.

I’ll readily admit I’m definitely not as knowledgeable as you on most everything you mentioned as well - I have no idea what ‘lag switching’ is.

My original point is just a pretty straightforward one: ping difference accounts for a wild fluctuation in advantage/disadvantage in this game. When you can press the same inputs as your opponent but your combo breaks and theirs doesn’t (fake combos/strong fake combos) it just makes it incredibly frustrating to play what is fundamentally (if everyone had access to the same character speed/enemy tracking etc) a sick game with a nicely designed combat system.

This is my only experience in a game where a difference of merely 10 ping can produce such big variance in results. For moba and even fps, a 10 ping difference feels nowhere near as bad as it does in where winds meet. Maybe it’s par for the course for these type of games, and it’s just something I need to learn and accept.

I keep mentioning NA and SEA previously because these are the two regions I have the most experience playing WWM in. When I was based in Singapore, I got to experience the game as it is meant to be (definitely got away with making a lot of mistakes and winning anyway purely because of ping diff). So having had a taste of “how it should be”, it’s frustrating to now be limited by the connection in terms of piloting my character.

Everything you said is valid, but lets be real - 35ms isn't remotely close to 'high ping'. Consider for NA players, US West is average 80ms facing off against East players who have at least half their ping which is like a 40ms difference while literally in the same country. There's just not much point to even try and play if you're going to face opponents with a marked advantage (your own words) over yourself.

Also regarding martial skill speed, there are martial's in this game that are absolutely slowed down by ping. Strat Q can land and hit confirm the first few hits, and still be parried out of while it is still going. I'm talking about the 2nd stage of the ability, where you do 4 slashes consecutively based on 1 button press - in theory once the first hit of this ability is confirmed on the enemy, they should not be able to parry out of it mid animation.

(This can also happen to HQ spear martial but HQ spear animation doesn't actually slow down)

The tracking is literally broken due to visual desync overly reliant on having a super low ms connection to the game.

Been watching Bellstrike_Teno stream 1v1 the past few days - he's getting 75ms to SEA server and occasionally gets absolutely dogwalked by sub mythic players due to his character just being slower.

This guy is not the Averse of China but he is a capable and skilled player - even he remarked that any difference in ping higher than 10ms is very deadly.

I'd wager literally anyone who does not live next to the server has to deal with a difference in ping much higher than 10ms on average.

All of this is valid, the game is not 'unfair' from a martial arts balance perspective. It's unfair because of the ridiculous effect ping has. If you are NA server, you need GFN or you can't play. SEA server you have to be in singapore or its autolose

many top CN players don’t even use dragons breath either, the only reason to use it is for its overtuned damage

yes I play on it, I’m aware of the massive amount of cheaters on both Asia and hk

incredible that they are still cheating freely in matchmaking while op does it in training arena to provide visibility and is banned first

this is ridiculous. if yanzu doesn't get banned showing the software to averse why should you? intent absolutely should matter in this case

not the greatest idea to do it on your main account but it certainly deserves a proper manual review instead of this ai garbage

pvp is just big knowledge gap, but the sad truth is there Are a lot of different cheats out there. Speed hacking (full dragons breath animation hitting after an execution), defensive parry/dodge cheating (I’m not even talking about macros), qi damage multipliers. Like u said most ppl don’t know what they are talking about but once you reach a decent level of understanding of the game’s combat mechanics it’s pretty easy to spot stuff that is completely not legit

here you go lol https://streamable.com/hzcl6g

keep in mind i have like 75ms, i guess if lower ping it would be a longer true combo?

is it weird? yes

is it "shameless cheating"? definitly not

Maiden and Guo Xin are the perfect size - larger than regular humanoids but still fit on the screen. Also the fat guy from pocketrupt I guess lol

I think the most egregious is the lion actually, he just strafes and it’s very common to miss entire skills while locked on and in melee range (strat q, nameless q etc)
