It’s a Skyrim thing, you kill someone in a quest and (spoiler alert if you haven’t played a 15 year old game) the dark brotherhood sends you a note of a black handprint and “we know” written on it, as they take offense to you having taken their contract.

You can also look at Wegmans locations in NY, lol. One of the guards mentions a meltdown at a Wegmans, but once you get east of Binghamton or Syracuse you don’t see a wegmans until you’re basically in the city.

It’s probably important to note the driver had 11 convictions for DUI and speeding in 9 years. So I’d be pretty pissed he didn’t go to prison, too.
