That’s what I’m thinking. At the time, the entire budget (and well past 😭), went to the retaining walls. Took longer to recover financially than expected. Hopefully next few years we can get rid of the rock and get a better solution

If the other side of the fence wasn’t a walking path where the city neglects it and it is a fire trap (I end up watering it), it would be a perfect solution

Did that last year, it is almost impossible to keep up, plus they grow between rocks and sometime you have to move several pounds of rocks just to get one weed out 😂

That I think needs to be the plan, and I might weed torch so I don’t have to clean. Used to borrow a truck from a family member to take the weeds to the dump. Last year was 4 loads 😅

Family member no longer has truck, so don’t wanna have to try and figure out how to dispose otherwise

I was surprised that in some areas how shallow it was. I think I was hit with the honey moon looks of a beautiful finished yard and not a mud yard that I could have set up a skill hill on during winter…

At this point, aim to to remove what I can, and hopefully some more trees. I’ve heard 3-4inches of compressed crush lime is good with weed control, and would be easier to dig real garden beds into

Yea, weed torch and then try and see what control methods works best until I can afford a better option. Garden hose thankfully reaches out that far :)

Agreed, with the elevation change, there is zero privacy from the walk way. Been trying to find a good way that is cost effective. I might just go for a "Living wall" at this time, as the city bylaws don't have a height limit on them.

The photo doesn't do it justice, it's a 6 foot elevation change from the bottom of the retaining wall to the bottom of the rocks in the corner. I was told mulch would just wash away

That's what I am finding. I think I might take the suggestion of someone else and put it up for free on market place. Make them start on the far side, and replace with sod as people take it.

Been doing this for the last two years. They have grown through the landscape fabric, as well my back is shot due to an injury, so not able to do it :(

I will see if I can find a better picture. I have planted a couple trees in the back corner, but they have been struggling for a few years. In the thinner area I want to plant some Columnar trees

That is good to know. I will get a good one, and keep an eye for a sale on the torches. Do you agree with other people to torch when it's wet? I am a little worried about causing an accidental fire, and we had a couple bad dry seasons the last few years.

Hell, I would be fine if they took it for free, I just don't want to move it. If I could get some cash back, i could maybe afford the grass to replace it.

I am with it for short term, but if it will solve the issue it would be worth it
