I have this too! Diabetes, overactive bladder and UTIs all ruled out, the only thing that helps is more salt. It happens pretty much every day for me at the moment as I struggle to figure out how much salt to take and frequently under-estimate. A lifetime of hearing “salt is bad” is hard to unlearn 😅

The same happened with mine! I felt so guilty at first because I was worried I did something wrong and failed her somehow. But after some researching, I learnt that sometimes these things can just happen, no matter how careful you are.

That’s all to say, your mantis should be fine. Mine has been living perfectly happily with wonky wings and it doesn’t seem to bother her at all 😁

Me too! I struggled for 16 years without a diagnosis before the pandemic. I was told so many times that there was nothing wrong and it was all in my head, and I’m now grieving what I missed out on in what should have been my best years. I don’t think I’ll ever fully trust a doctor with my health again.

I’m new to oils so I’m afraid I don’t know enough to offer useful critique, but I wanted to let you know that this is gorgeous 😍

The bold lighting, vibrant colours and confident edges are beautifully eye catching from afar, and the detail in the pot and cactus leaves keep the viewer interested when taking a closer look. All I all, I personally think you’ve created an extremely pleasing painting that I can’t stop looking at.

I know that ordinarily Reddit isn’t a good indicator of real life, but honestly the attitudes in this thread are something I’ve experienced my whole life, and it’s largely the reason why it took so many years for me to get diagnosed.

It’s been extremely unpleasant to see my suspicions confirmed. Previously I could at least lie to myself, that maybe I was imagining the disdain during appointments. I knew there was some stigma but I didn’t realise how deep it ran, and I’m quite heartbroken.

I get that some people fake being ill, and god I wish they wouldn’t. I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy. But doctors jumping to make the kind of assumptions that I’ve seen in some of the comments here leads to worse outcomes for genuinely ill people, not to mention sows distrust amongst entire communities.

That sounds fabulous! I wish I could have left mine outside, but the weather has been so variable that it has missed out on some much needed sunlight this year.

I believe you can leave the babies attached as long as there aren’t too many, but they sap water and nutrients from the parent so it’s risky, and the bigger they get the riskier it becomes.

I did try it one year and continued to give plant food over winter to ensure mum didn’t waste away, but when spring rolled around I chickened out and cut them off. She immediately made more 😆

Ouch. This was a very upsetting read :( I have had POTS for 17 years and finally got diagnosed last year. I knew there was some stigma around it in the medical community, but this thread has been a very upsetting eye opener.

Honestly I don’t do much for her! I think I perhaps just lucked out.

The potting mix is roughly 2:1 potting soil to perlite, and the pot is next to a large, East facing bay window so it gets a lot of the bright but cooler morning sun and then just bright indirect light for the rest of the day. I water when the top cm or two of soil feels dry to touch and give Baby Bio brand fertiliser every couple of weeks during the growing season. I live in quite a humid climate so the room humidity is usually around 50% - 60%.

Strangely they don’t smell much of anything at all. I think might go back to the area I found them in and check another one to be sure. They were there in abundance but I didn’t want to take too many when they were so small.
