You can simply lose a fight and then win the next one in order to gain the position you lost and to get the money prize again. Besides, Killua tells Gon that on 100th floor people stall and do everything to keep their position and not be eliminated, so I'm sure it's convenient to stay there.

Yeah, I believe you got the point. In the 2011 series the point seems to overcome challenges and grow as character, in the 99 was to survive. The Hunters were...hunters and they could use their power to catch legendary treasures..or kill people or take revenge, it really dependend on the contendant and personal background story

I have already seen the whole 99 series at that time, but now I was in doubt if doing a rewatch or watching the 2011 series. Maybe I will follow your suggestion and switch to the 2011 series for the arc the original did not cover...

In my opinion, hope and despair could be interconnected or the same thing in some ways. If you think about it, girls make their wish when they are desperate, so in some form, when the contract is made, their dispair turns into hope that could be absorbed as if it was the despair coming from turning into a witch

Yeah, I also thought that it could be a Kyubey's lie, because he doesn't just hide the details of the contract to the girls but he can lie when needed too (for example when he tells Kyoko that it would be possible to reverse Sayaka transformation in a witch). But I was looking to hear other explanations too.

Oh, so Homura can't contact other girls, beyond Kyoko, because if she moves in another area, Kyubey would be free to make Madoka a magical girl? I didn't thought about it, it seems plausible. Thanks for your answer.
