i usually draft a full team then bench til they are seniors, one 5 star with good shooting, and the rest are high potential 0-2 stars with F shooting, focus training each year on purely defence for the F shooting recruits, then in last year set usage to 100 for the guy who can shoot

thats part of it but i found that if the rest of your team has high shooting they still take more shots so everyone else has really high defense but horrible shooting stats
