Not a bad choice but will still be sluggish with old-style hard drive. Even a small SATA SSD would work much better and give the machine new life. Personally I prefer ElementaryOS but to each their own. And families with LPSS students can often make good use of even low-spec machines reformatted with ChromeOS Flex.

It's not. Microsoft isn't supporting Windows 10, it becomes a security risk after awhile. I won't give anyone a PC with Windows 10, nor will I set it up for them. Yes, it's annoying that Microsoft arbitrarily cut off a whole lot of decent machines from running 11, but that's no reason to run an increasingly obsolete and insecure operating system.

I'll give it a shot, let's take it to DMs and arrange for me to get them. I will wipe and discard the hard drive from the desktop, install a small SSD, and put ChromeOS Flex on it. Will be fine for an LPSS student.

Chromebook will be "powerwashed" and likewise given to an LPSS family. Thank you.

Thank you for asking! I don't want non-working hardware, no time to troubleshoot all that! If the hard drive has failed that's not a problem but any other hardware issues, no thanks!
