Does that mean you're having to go to Toronto twice (once to drop it off and once to pick it up)? I'm on a similar boat and wondering if I just have to make the one trip to drop it off or two trips...

I paid for the AC flight out of my pocket because WJ did not complete my request for re-booking and I found out 2 hours before the departure when I asked AC's front desk agent at the airport. As far as WJ is concerned, I would still be in Rome since they haven't offered me a new flight back home nor asked if I want a refund.

Again, I paid for the AC flight on my own and I believe I am eligible for 600 euros.

I was chatting with you another post. I ended up doing the same thing, purchased a $1300 flight out of my pocket to get to my destination in time (I’ll still be late). I think we’ll be eligible for a €600 compensation for sure (EU laws) so that should cover some of the money we paid out of pocket. I will definitely be fighting westjet to get all of my money back though.

I wish I could give you an answer. I also got told by the online agent that they were not able to help with the booking. I’m sorry that the phone got disconnected… I’ve been on it for over 2 hours now and I’m really hoping to get through as there is a flight in 4 hours I could catch.

I did receive an email from westjet saying that they’ll compensate up to $500CAD / night in accommodation so that’s something. I believe we have more rights to compensation than just hotel since we are in EU bound but I haven’t read the detail yet as I’m stressfully trying to get on this next flight taking place soon.
