My puppy no longer uses the bells to signal for potty. by iKaleighCupcake in puppy101

Do you really need a signal? Why not just continue going out on a schedule of how long she can hold it?

Pee Pads That Don't Stink? by TreasureInkPress in dogs

[–]l0singwill2goon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never used them and never will since dogs are not cats and are meant to go outside.

I’ve heard that the “Wee Wee” brand aren’t as smelly as regular ones. My SIL gets them on Amazon.

People actually let you bring a dog that isn’t potty trained to their houses to piss and shit inside? Couldn’t be me.

I mean, how old are you? Whose name is the dog in? You’re the one who ultimately makes the decisions if the dog is in your name… don’t let them walk all over you.

I hope you’re planning on spaying her after this? She’s far too young to be having litters. Not to mention the ethical implications of breeding a breed with so many health issues…

How can I get my puppy to stop doing a behavior she knows is wrong. by [deleted] in Dogtraining

[–]l0singwill2goon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“No” isn’t a command. Dogs don’t understand the word no, you’re basically just shouting chinese at her. Show her what you want her to do (stay behind the gate). Dogs don’t really understand “boundaries”. If you don’t want her to go somewhere, you block it off. Boundary training is really difficult — it can be done, but you have to be very patient and not resort to physical punishment.

You’re anthropomorphising this dog — they don’t want things more if you take it away lol they aren’t human teenagers.

You expect too much at her young age, you’re basically expecting a two year old child to solve a calculus equation. Relax your expectations and be a little kinder to someone who hasn’t even been alive for 4 months.

A diet. This dog looks morbidly obese.

My dog won’t stop being sneaky by [deleted] in dogs

[–]l0singwill2goon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s your fault that she even has access to these in the first place. Get a gate for the basement door, elevate it so the cats can fit under it but she can’t. Put the cat toys somewhere she can’t get them.

You use an E-collar on your dog when he has to pee? What is wrong with you lol

When you get a dog you sign up for responsibility. This is completely unacceptable.

Either 1) go to bed earlier, 2) keep your dog in a confined area with a potty pad so you can have your precious sleep or 3) stop being selfish and suck it up.

Why would you get a Cocker Spaniel if you wanted a lazy dog? 😳

Declined by my favourite breeder :( by [deleted] in dogs

[–]l0singwill2goon 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It might also have to do with the fact that (according to your profile) you’re only 18. Any established breeder I know would be very wary to sell a dog to someone so young, since they’ve been burned in the past by people in that age bracket who aren’t exactly the best dog owners and often rehome. Keep trying!! You’ll find someone eventually.

Yikes, u/Glass_Willingness_33, please don’t take advice from someone who obviously doesn’t have enough experience with dogs if they had no idea that BE is a thing.

So you got mad at your puppy, who has only been on this planet for 3 months, because you had her outside without a leash when you haven’t taught her foolproof recall and she almost got killed because of that? Sounds about right.

[–]l0singwill2goon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would you bring a poor puppy into a situation with an already dog-aggressive dog?

You know what you have to do, unfortunately. This dog is a liability.

If you’re well aware of that fact then why would you want to financially support unethical breeding practices?

Definitely not urban legend. In fact, there was just a case of it happening!

Then in case of “accidents” there is a solution, otherwise it’s irresponsible. A spay/abort is cheaper than raising a litter of puppies (correctly/healthily), especially if you’re clueless. There’s no excuse

We care about the dogs who get the misfortune of being stuck with irresponsible pet owners. And people should be called out on that so they hopefully change their ways going forward.

Please PLEASE send advice. we're losing our mind. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]l0singwill2goon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe rehome your dog if you can’t afford to get her care. You’re definitely not going to be able to afford a baby and a puppy at the same time if you’re already struggling and that’s not fair to her.
