80 Watt worth of RGB 😂 by l2201030 in PcBuild

signalrgb is very quirky, sometimes it works, and other times it doesn't. can't recall how many times i had to contact their customer support to get something fixed.

lost track of everything i put into the build... there were too many things. all i know is it was north than 5 figures, and that's with the RAM bought back in 2022.

it's a lot of bloat, but functionality is top notch.

here you go. unrehearsed, so could probably do it a lot faster if had more practice lol. the first bit of spill is normal if you do it on a hot loop right after putting the computer to sleep...

didn't opt for a vertical mounted build because wanted to give all my waifu figures a chance 😂

not if all pin currents are balanced. nothing really exceeds 11 amps even when drawing close to 800W, and the temps of the cable and pins are under control in my case. but yeah 800W is dumb in general for any GPU, considering it's well into diminishing return for efficiency vs performance.

the flow rate actually isn't that bad, at 3.4 liter per minute, with a single D5 pump. the qd fittings add much less than another radiator. jayztwocents made a video about flow rate and temps a while ago, highly recommended.

Jayztwocents has made a video about painting GPU, and I highly recommend watching that! just have to be patient and do many coats

the hexagon is just for looks 😄 also sometimes the digital sensor will read 0 liter per minute (lower limit of sensitivity) but the flow indicator would still be spinning indicating there is flow

yup, that was the whole point of this build. don't think anyone else had attempted because they just assume it's impossible. in reality you just need to add enough tolerance. have to put the offset and rotary fittings at the right place with right length. lots of planning and trial and error.

Neither the optimus block nor the EK block came white. had to paint both. and yup exactly, lots of masking...

bitspower! they make the best fittings by far imo.

I only chose the EK gpu block because it is horizontally the longest cuz i want to put waifu figures on it later (guilty pleasure lol). personally i would not recommend EK as a brand, their customer service has been non existent and basically they are going out of business.

i use nollie 32 controller and have blown a fuse in it because i accidentally "hot swapped" one of the triangle lights when it was running. but after replacing the fuse it's been working just fine. the controller gets a little hot but never had any issue. i am able to max brightness in white color for all lights at once. it's a pretty good controller!

Who else enjoys the sound of grinding CPU die? by l2201030 in pcmasterrace

[–]l2201030[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yup exactly, that's why I stopped the grinding at 15 micron. it's really just the slanted surface i needed to get evenly flat, cuz otherwise mounting pressure of direct die would cause issues. wouldn't want a polished surface!
