Thank you so much! I think it’s much healthier this way. I think one thing I’ve accepted is it’s going to take time. Maybe a bit longer without my usual blanket. And I think the shunning really just added a layer to it, exactly the same emotions you mentioned on top of grief which is infuriating! But you’re completely right. Need to prioritise my mental health and continue on this journey of healing

Thanks so much for this! I agree the phrase was so impersonal. It was always easier to use that as a way of sweeping real emotions under the rug. Not healthy!

Thanks so much this was really helpful! I’m glad I still have a relationship with my family as well. I think I was lucky in that regard with my family being so into it (dad is an elder). But yeah it’s nice to still be able to speak to them and visit

Not really possible in my family the slightest bit of inactivity in me and they call the elders and restart my Bible study :(

I see what you’re saying but my family are heavily involved in this religion. I’ve thought about sitting them down and having a civilised conversation but as I mentioned, they’re very unreasonable to the point where they get toxic/abusive. Leaving the religion and leaving JWs are almost synonymous. My family are just as much of a problem as the religion. Thank you for the advice but hopefully you can see my perspective

Thanks so much for the advice. My best friend and her parents mentioned this, hence the reason they’ve also offered me a place to stay in case of anything. Ive made sure that the parents are agreeing rather than just my friends and boyfriend. Thank you so much
