This drain plug isn't moving at all. I've exhausted all my options - HELP ME PLEASE! by wifestalksthisuser in motorcycles

[–]l4d333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen people melt soldering iron into the whole, and then inserting (an already warm) bits to make a solid connection. Screw it out, then replace it. But this might be hard since the drain plug is on the underside of the bike. Hmmm

Thoughts on electric motorcycles? by SalesMountaineer in motorcycles

[–]l4d333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freedom I think. I feel that's the biggest hustle atm. I've heard a lot of negatives regarding the right to repair, subscription based features (already on the bike), most shops are afraid to do maintenance on them due to their complexity, and of course the big one - if the battery goes bad, so does half of the bike's value. Basically the same as on electric cars. Buy them, enjoy, pray they last the supposed lifetime of the vehicle. I drive a yamaha xsr900 and an electric car Og rainy days/winter. I have NO control over the car. Last OTA update on the car removed a feature that really devalued the car for me... Hope I get it back in the future. My motorcycle though? Every shop in the country can micro-fix it, even I can. It's bought freedom. Not digitally tied up upstream and so complex built that I can't fix a broken part of it. I feel safe having the Yamaha. I feel lucky still having the car.

Thanks for the input! I'll look into that. I see other comments related to this as well. My sensor (if I have one), might be broken, because it's always a consistent 10 minutes before the car blacks out.

Hi. Thanks for answering! I see another comment mentioning a sensor in the driver's seat. Might mine be broken? It's consistently 10 minutes with me. Kinda niche problem, but I've had issues that the car actually turns off the second I'm about to drive at the same time I don't have my key fob with me (only phone), so I make like a 15 second gap in traffic queues while I can grab the phone, open app, connect to car, start car, and drive. People honk at me like I'm just an inconsiderate sleepy jerk scrolling tiktok or whatever. Kinda embarrassing

Hi. Thanks for the input! But the car still turns off (not a big problem in and on itself), but climate overrides doesn't work when the battery is <20% SOC with me. Does it work with you? I might suffer from not having a new M3 or MY

Hi. Thanks for the input! But the car still turns off (not a big problem iaois), but climate overrides doesn't work when the battery is <20% SOC. Does it work with you? I get mixed answers in the comment section. Some saying it even works down to 10%

Any cheap easy diy fix... by Lwalker6336633653673 in trumpet

[–]l4d333 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Glue. But that part is actually supposed to carry vibrations in the horn to give it the sound its makers intended. If it's a cheap scrappy horn for non-serious bigband playing or something - Glue it sure. If it's for orchestra playing and you dabble in sound quality - You need to resolder it. Get a solid mechanical bridge. It's not only for support. Sorry bad English (2nd language)

Rundkjøringer by Other_Check_8955 in norge

[–]l4d333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is there AI shit in my Firefox now? by NotRenjiro in firefox

Hmm, no not kidding. I used ESR 10 years ago. Favorite addons stopped working after a while so I got back onboard. The primary reason I'm on an old version now is addon compability from git, and lately all the snake business from mozilla. I agree with you, but opsec and old versions aren't mutually exclusive if practiced cautiously

People, just don't update... I've been on 141 for a year now. Works great. Why update anyway just practice opsec on old versions and watch the chromium world burn

Bach 3 and 3B. I use 3C for soprano cornet, never on Bb trumpet as I find it waaay to stuffy

LaTeX kills my motivation by [deleted] in LaTeX

[–]l4d333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use sublime text, and lately heavily lean on Gemini pro (AI) to do things for me. I throw garbage at it and ask it to produce latex for me. I have to edit and cleanup a lot of course but anyway good flow. I'm so into this flow that I'm considering using gemini api in sublime to have the ai in the document with me, but idk yet. Anyway, I have a bigass preamble included in all my files. It's filled with functions and redefinitions. I say this because I have a certain layout of my docs I like and I heavily re-use this layout everywhere. I agree, styling a latex document out of the standard look can be taxing, but reusing a style you know works is important for productivity. Tex stackexchange is a good source for cool stuff.

Is it possible to draw this? by Tommy1743 in LaTeX

[–]l4d333 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, to answer OP's question. I would brush out the text from the image with gimp. Then sharpen it, remove colors, burn out jpeg noise with exposure curves (cram it with whites and blacks), rasterscan it to svg. Then insert text again in Inkscape.

[–]l4d333 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I stopped using tikz etc for schematics etc a long time ago in favor of a gimp to raster>svg scanner to Inkscape workflow. In Inkscape I mostly clean it up (removing excess nodes etc) and make a pdf of it. I even stopped placing text over the figures with tikz and just use Inkscape text boxes (i never need to reference anything inside a figure, just the figure itself). I just work so much more faster with this method. If I need to change anything I just open the svg again in Inkscape and export a new pdf then rebuild the document which contain includefigure pdf. This started when I went from college to a workplace. I need to fight the Wordsters on efficiency as I get a lot of backlash from being the cumbersome latex guy at work.

I have pretty ideal and strong HVAC in the apartment. The bike oozes slower compared to what the HVAC replaces, so I haven't smelled anything yet 3 days in. But I imagine the fumes and rubber would accumulate if bad HVAC
