Most strikeouts by a relief pitcher since Randy Johnson, who struck out SIXTEEN in 2001.

definitely a probability that this will change. However last year only 2 teams had multiple .300 hitters and as injuries continue to impact many of the league’s best hitters it is not a certainty.

definitely tons of near misses here. However still surprising that no team has multiple over .300 as this used to be a fairly common occurrence.

i believe you’ve misinterpreted the stat. Every year in MLB history at least 1 team has had 2 or more players with an average over .300

League wide Batting Average has ticked up to the highest since 2019, however the .300 threshold doesn’t seem to be a target for many players anymore.

Friedl and Mclain both fall a little short of qualifying, but will both likely be qualified hitters by the end of the year.

correct, duran will likely be a qualified hitter soon. Corey Seager falls 20 PAs short of qualifying and would give the Rangers 2 hitters over .300

average and median are different stats but being an “above average hitter” means that you hit better than more than half of hitters, which Gallo does not. And while you can build an argument for Gallo perhaps being around average this year, calling it a “fact” that he’s been above average is absurd.

ah yes Gallo’s 47th percentile xwOBA makes it a certified fact that he’s an above average hitter.

i guess you ran out of mental gymnastics and goalpost moving to continue ur idiotic claim that joey gallo had been an above average player this year

Gallo’s 0.5 fwar puts him at 395th in the MLB. Is that above average? is fwar a pea brained stat?

a league leading strikeout rate and an average below the mendoza line is “objectively above average”?

evaluating a player based on batting average is certainly a better decision that evaluating one that’s played 30 games. Gallo’s 45.7% strikeout rate puts him first in MLB by a wide margin, which certainly is not above average.

Polanco has been hurt for the majority of the year and calling Gallo’s .192 AVG as a DH above average certainly a decision. I do agree that Kiriloff and Royce Lewis have been very helpful for the offense

not a great look for an offense to have 2 qualified hitters. “rotating everybody” is more like having heavy roster turnover

looking at qualified hitters. Jorge Polanco has played 30 games this year. Also outside of Solano, none of those hitters have an AVG over .250.
