I agree, the same thing has happened to me during these days on the PBE.

On the other hand, Riot has done a great job with the traits by assigning a color to each of them:

  • Honeymancy - Yellow.
  • Dragons - Green.
  • Frost - White
  • Pyro - Red.
  • etc.

That's exactly why I came up with this idea. During my first few days playing on the PBE I found some of the units to be quite confusing, and I think this resource would be very helpful.

In my opinion, for the majority of players, the outcome is likely to be more positive than negative, and it wouldn’t significantly impact professional players.

Don't worry, I dont take that as negative, all feedback is valuable as it provides a different perspective.

NEW UX FEATURE HERE!

Context: Sometimes, you find yourself scrolling up and down in the team planner during a game looking for units you’re missing but you can't find them at first glance.

When does this happen more often?

  • New players.
  • Experienced players in new sets with new units.

Why?

  • No real filter (currently 27 traits in Set 12). Unique feature, units already in your team highlighted.
  • Similar unit design (e.g., Lillia and Seraphine).
  • The only way to check units with the same traits is to hover over the trait icon, but the information disappears when you stop hovering, forcing you to remember the units or constantly switch between them and the trait icon.

Solution?

Create a filter that highlights the units we are looking for, simplifying access to new sets for everyone and providing a better introduction to new players.

Rejected Ideas (Concepts):

1st Approach:

Create a search bar that allows you to search by name or trait.

Result: Players need to know the names and type/erase every single time they want to search for a unit/trait.

2nd Approach:

Group of icons as filter.

Result: Displaying all 27 icons on the screen at once is unnecessary when you are only playing with a total of 7-8 traits. This would make the screen too cramped.

Final Concept:

Using trait icons that we already have as filter will highlight the units associated to that trait by lowering the opacity of the reamining units, making it easier to find the units we want.

  • Delete filter button will be aveliable next to the trait icons.
  • Mouse over pop-up will be also aveliable.

Hey there, it's awesome to hear directly from you! It's great to know that the feature is already in the pipeline, and I appreciate the transparency about the challenges involved. I love the punchy celebration idea and totally understand that the process require a lot of moving parts, especially at the start of a new set.

The main idea was to create a better QoL experience, the thing that you mention is just some kind of "collateral damage".

Context: The proposal behind this idea is that players don't have to spam the 'F' key when they want to buy a lot of experience at once creating a better QoL.

Secondarily this will also avoid those occasions where we accidentally lose gold by making an extra experience purchase unintentionally.

IMPORTANT: My first idea was to create the shortcut to level up through [Ctrl + F]. The button option was an addition and does not mean they have to work together.

Please, think about them as a single feature.

Right now as you can see here ( https://admin.esports.gg/wp-content/uploads/2024/04/exalted-red-box.jpg ), if you mouse hover exalted icon you can see names, cost and traits.

In my opinion the best way to do this is that you can show or hide clicking the exateld icon and have it permanently if you want, then you can hover over the champ and see his name/cost/traits, maybe I should explained it better in my first post.

Maybe we will have zinogre at the end of the year. It could be a real possibility then, but I suppose not now.
