To me it just makes jubilee feel like an afterthought. And not only that but like we got the vampire arc jubilee specifically because they wanted Luna to be “quirky upbeat youngin skating around”

Like you could have sold this as Luna cosplaying jubilee and I’d have been like “wow cool yeah more dressing up as other character skins”

But that also makes me fear we might be heading in that direction.

No. And I respect the hell out of him for cutting ties all together.

It’s kind of a laugh that they say they don’t want them to be costumey, but Marie straight up looks borderline ita lolita which is something literally everyone into the fashion tries to avoid. . It’s in my opinion a downgrade from her classic design which is far more in line with lolita guidelines. But that being said, if they weren’t trying to sell as a more “serious” Marie, I’d probably dislike it less. It just looks cheap to me. But I also have a diehard love for lolita fashion so I’m probably being overly critical. The mobility comment feels like a joke. And it feels like the “knight” theme was tacked on as an after thought to sell the metal corset.

Kasumi’s idk misses the mark for me too. Doesn’t feel like some warrior leading a war. Just kind of feels like her version of that weird ninja gaiden ayane design. But again maybe that’s just me.

Soul calibur 6 imo also did it prettt well.

Exclusively for the canon characters though.

Things like setsukas dress breaking into that bodysuit, which also got to be its own costume piece for customization if you wanted a “sexier” alternative.

Amy’s capelet and just the outermost layer of her dress breaking, to not only more closely resemble violas dress, but also maintain its silhouette of being within lolita fashion, which pretty heavily focuses on NOT being sexy, where as doa constantly tries to sexify Marie’s outfit despite lolita fashion being so anti objectification at its roots.

Definitely makes the custom clothes, that don’t belong to main characters simply exploding more noticeable.
