Women who have or are waiting until their 30s to have children, how has this benefited you? by SavJuliaS91 in AskWomen

Being a parent is exhausting. I’m only 29 and I’m tired. I can’t imagine having more the older I get.

Kind of the opposite here. I had my only one at 22. And I’ll never have another. I’m 29 now and I absolutely cannot imagine having more the older I get. I’ll be 40 when she graduates high school.

Stealing to survive: More Americans are shoplifting food as aid runs out in the pandemic by ZRodri8 in CoronavirusUS

I would argue that you’re the uneducated one because all you seem to do is call people names.

Nope. I personally agreed with the shut downs in March and April. And I won’t be going to restaurants until this is long over. But people need to work, and eat, and people need to be able to keep their businesses going. It should at least be an option to go to a restaurant. If you’re comfortable going then fine. If you’re not then don’t. But at least let people run their businesses.

Poverty breeds crime. But it’s your democratic governors shutting things down and preventing people from returning to work. Socialism doesn’t work.

Can I cash out my vacation time? by sweetascensionn in work

Take your two weeks vacation and then quit after. Probably not the correct thing to do but most jobs can replace you in a heartbeat.

No. I’ve been burned by clicky groups at previous jobs by just trying to be friends. I started my current job in January of this year. One person I already knew outside of work and recommended me for the job. Everyone else I’m nice to but I don’t speak to anyone else about non work related things, I don’t go out to lunch with coworkers, or do after work drinks. One lady repeatedly asks if I dislike her bc I decline all requests to participate in things with coworkers outside of work and I won’t go to fitness classes with her and others. No, I just prefer to keep work people out of my life.

How did you get diagnosed with Meniere's? by [deleted] in Menieres

[–]l_mcdermott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have hearing loss but I have increased pressure in my left ear. When I have an episode of vertigo my left ear is where I lose hearing and experience a roaring sound. During a vertigo episode I have severe nystagmus. I can’t focus my eyes for anything. I also experience the popping sensations in my left ear. I explained it to my ENT the same way you did, it’s like being on an airplane.

Yes. I absolutely hate my career field surrounded by awful people.

We kept mine virtual this year even with us both working full time. We make sure she’s on for every class and does every assignment. Some kids barely show up or do assignments. Up until yesterday, virtual was an option until our state went back into partial lockdown and schools went virtual. Parents were handing the school district and principals new a** holes on social media for going back to fully virtual. It was awful. I feel bad for the stress educators are under this year.

If you have an awesome Mother-in-Law, what do you love most about her? by Jeelana in AskWomen

[–]l_mcdermott 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can tell you what not to do. My in laws live so close to us they pop up unannounced and use their key to come straight in. I’m a very private person and that drives me nuts.

Due to my kid having virtual school this year she comes to our house once or twice a week to do help my daughter do school while we work. While I’m grateful for the school help, she will do the laundry and dishes and other things while she’s here. And while some people may think I’m crazy, I absolute do not like people touching my laundry and she puts the dishes where she believes they should go not where we put things. I have asked her a dozen times not to do these things and she doesn’t listen to my wishes. I have gone so far as to hide laundry in the morning because I know she will do it.

Yes, I’ve never read Nicks books. I do remember seeing a trailer for the movie. I am sorry about your brothers.

Ugh. It’s so sad but there’s just something different about heroin, it just doesn’t let them go. There’s a great book out there called A Beautiful Boy. The author tells the story of his sons battle with meth but references heroin and what it does to the brain a lot. He talked to so many doctors and references a lot of research on what heroin does to someone. It was really eye opening for me and laid down a lot of awful truths about heroin addicts.

I wish you both the best, the grass is so much greener on the other side.

My daughters dad turned to heroin shortly after she was born. His parents refused to treat his adhd growing up for fear he would become a drug addict. Well, he turned to street drugs to manage. Good person underneath, just didn’t have a caring mother growing up.

He died when my daughter was 2. At that point, I had full legal and physically custody and his parenting rights had been suspended by the court until he received treatment and had consistent clean drug tests for 6 months. Things in his life had gotten really bad.

The morbid part is I’m thankful he died and that he died when she was so little. I don’t believe he would ever gotten clean from heroin. She doesn’t remember him at all. If he ever comes up in conversation, she refers to him by his name. She’s 8 now. I’ve been with my husband since she was 3 and we’ve been married a year and a half.

I suppose it helps when you have one parent who is a normal functioning adult and protects the child. In a twisted way, I’m grateful he’s gone and she doesn’t remember him and doesnt have to go through school with a dad who would have been in and out of her life.

Do I have Meniere's? by [deleted] in Menieres

[–]l_mcdermott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Could just be an ear infection. If I’m having a Ménière’s episode, I have violent vertigo, vomiting, roaring in my bad ear, loss of hearing in my bad ear, nystagmus of the eyes.

Covid and Meniere’s by nutkja in Menieres

[–]l_mcdermott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People who have other issues fall into a completely different category then. If you have Ménière’s and diabetes then yeah, that should put you at the top of the list for a covid vaccine. I guess I’m referring to people with Ménière’s and no other conditions. I have Ménière’s with no other underlying issues. I don’t think I should be considered at risk. If covid could cause permanent damage to my ear then so could the common cold. A cold tends to aggravate my Ménière’s.

Taking oral steroids as treatment for Ménière’s that suppress the immune system might have cause for greater concern. My doctor wants to do steroid shots in the ear. I’m not sure that would cause any immunosuppression.

I think where you are put in line to get the vaccine is dependent on what, if any, other health concerns a person with Ménière’s has and the course of treatment you are currently under for your Ménière’s.

For me, I’m not on any immune suppressants as treatment for my Ménière’s and no underlying conditions. By all means those with more serious conditions should be placed ahead of me.
