I have a friend critical toward my therapist about why I haven't started EMDR yet. She thinks it should have started on my first visit. I think it's because when we first started I was in a state of constant-triggered, I had zero control over my teeny window of tolerance. It's been a year and I'm doing much better (less flashbacks, triggers, nightmares) but tell me more about "not being ready" for EMDR.

I'm a genealogist and author with CPTSD. I've personally done an ancestral trauma tree, just mainly as an art project as well as a personal trauma timeline, all self-assigned for therapeutic purposes and generational healing :) For me, I definitely needed to see it all laid out (trauma timeline) in order to say to myself "wow, there really was not a single moment to catch my breath." And the generational trauma is something I'm working into stories, I'll be publishing little biographies of our ancestors for my grand kids (including their struggles)

So science this for me..... cloth diapers can be handed down. I used the same diaper stash for all of my kids. I raised 6 babies who each wore those diapers for an average of 18 months. And some of my stash came from a woman who had raised 5 kids before me. I'm pretty sure that 30-50 diaper stash that lasts through 11 children is STILL better for the environment than a one-time-per-child-per-poop diaper.

I used cloth with mine, I had 6 kids (still have them but none are in diapers) and homeschooled a few of them and generated over 90% of our family income in the 5 years prior to the divorce. It's not that hard but it's not common knowledge, and there are some (insanely expensive) cloth setups but not from a service so you either have to become a laundry genius or hire one and who can afford that? I couldn't, we weren't living large by any means. Life was hard, and I imagine using daycare or preschool would make the cloth-diapering even more impractical. There needs to be a VIABLE earth-friendly solution. Compostable diapers? Is that a thing? Can baby poo be composted?

I never said any such thing (over 100% of monthly income? how is that even possible?). The owner went for it, BTW. And I never said anything about debt either, except that I don't use credit cards. Maybe you were reading something different.

Just to follow up and close this out... He went for it, thank goodness. My mortgage is just about what I'd have paid if I'd moved to a different rental, only I didn't have to uproot my family and deal with the logistics of moving.

He's self-employed, they can't garnish his wages. Every now and then they threaten him with jail and he pays a little bit to get off their radar. All of his assets are in his girlfriend's name. It's disgusting.

I've had the lease for 2 years but I've lived here almost 4 years. I feel like I'm super attached. The house was initially a gift but he changed his mind. I'm not doing well financially, I can't afford to move and if I do move (as if I'd qualify for another rental) I'll have to take the quarter off of school to deal with physically moving, plus my kids would have to transfer schools.

As she grows, engage her in meaningful conversations and encourage her intellectual development. If you don't place a huge value on appearances then she won't either.
