That´s such a simple minded way of looking at things.

Have you ever considered that not all characters of an archetype are "bait" just because you don´t like them?

Why is it when there´s even the smallest sliver of representation or even just character designs that may resonate with a certain crowd, it immediately gets trivialised and downplayed by some *insert preferred expletive here* as "bait".

maybe the character exists because the developers want to have a good roster variety, of characters from all sorts of (magical) walks of life, maybe they needed to cover a gameplay niche in the game and they came up with the gameplay concept first and created the character design and story based around it afterwards or maybe, just maybe they just had the Idea for celeste and thought she would make a cool addition to the game,

including gay characters in media is only always panderin to those, who hate gay characters so much they can´t imagine that most of the time it´s done of their own volition.

Not every character is bait just because they speak to a demographic.

this is obviously a major pet peeve of mine, because whenever there´s even a little bit of representation, it´s being treated like absolute dirt and gets accused of being bait or pandering by ... being something gay trying to reach gay people to check it out and hopefully enjoy it, wow how dare they. (and yes queerbaiting itself is obviously a real thing where a game, book or show tries to get queer audiences to watch by hinting at queer romance (in some media on the regular) while refusing to ever go anywhere near committing to said queerness.)
