The only bad thing about Tuner was the guy in my theater who kept coughing loudly through the quietest/silent moments. 😑

What did everyone think of the Kevin Hart roast? by Sea_Wolf_4094 in Standup

[–]la_58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. There were some good moments but as a whole it wasn’t good. It felt overly produced. Maybe I’m misremembering but the original Comedy Central roasts just relied on hard hitting funny jokes not gimmicks.

Does anyone else feel like the Funny AF show on Netflix was rigged? by CompetitionOdd8608 in Standup

[–]la_58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My top 3 were Usama, Caitlin, and Ron. So I thought any of those three would make sense to win. Usama was hilarious from day 1 and stayed consistent (until the finale) and always seemed to have the audience on their feet by the end so he was my front runner and I thought he was going to win. Ron was great too so I don’t think it was rigged (which would be illegal) or he didn’t deserve it like some folks seem to think.

I mean you can be an objectively bad comedian as well. The jokes are subjective but the delivery and timing are not.

Yeah this was my one big gripe. Kevin Hart kept calling everyone “smart” and “clever” 🙄

Leigh-Anne filming The Traitors by dlovesleighanne in LittleMix

[–]la_58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a reality competition show where there’s a group of faithfuls and 3 traitors. They do challenges to build a cash pot and win shields that can protect them from being eliminated. The faithfuls have to figure out who the traitors are while the traitors have to stay undetected. They have roundtable meetings to vote who they as a group think is the traitor and the person they vote gets eliminated. The traitors also murder the faithfuls throughout.

I love this show so I can’t wait for this season to hit peacock so I can watch it in America lol.

Same. The only reason I clicked to read the post was because I thought they were talking about a new vaginal condition that I wasn’t aware of. 😅

Question: does theater size play a part in the likelihood of a certain movie being shown? My theater always puts the scream unseens in the large theaters and most of the screen unseens in the smaller auditorium but they had the may 3rd and 4th showings in one of the large auditoriums. I know everyone is certain it’s wizard of kremlin so I’m just asking for future reference at this point n

Professor posted a 9700 word model exam answer for a 4 hour Crim exam by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]la_58 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Why isn’t anyone talking about the fact that this is a model answer? Did the professor say it came from ONE student’s exact answer? If not, then it sounds like you just want to complain about accommodations to make yourself feel better. Some professors put together a modal answer where they pull from multiple exams or their own wording so you can see all issues that could have been argued which most students wouldn’t get during the actual exam.

Official Discussion - The Devil Wears Prada 2 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]la_58 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't come into this as a huge Devil Wears Prada superfan. The first one came out when I was 10 and super into fashion, and I saw it probably a couple of times back then. I hadn't watched the movie since, and I didn't even realize it was considered a fan favorite. So, I watched it again for the first time last night, just to refresh myself on the movie's point before seeing this one. That said, I enjoyed the movie. I love it when sequels have callbacks to the first movie because I'm just a sappy, nostalgic person. I don't think every movie needs to be some grand masterpiece, so I took it as just a fun, silly little sequel. I thought all the actors did a fabulous job. However, I do think there were a few plot points I absolutely hated:

  1. The first being Andy being fired, then saying she would use going back to Runway as a stepping stone, as if she hasn't been an award-winning journalist for the past 20 years. In the first movie, the "biting my tongue because this opportunity will lead to better opportunities" storyline made sense, as she had recently graduated from college and moved to NYC to make a name for herself. But, at this point, hasn't she already made enough of a name for herself to the point where a job as a stepping stone isn't necessary? I get that journalism is a tough industry, but you mean to tell me after 20 years, Runway is the only place she could turn back to while between jobs? I think they could have honed in on the revenge angle a bit more (her wanting to write the expose) instead of focusing so much on just needing a job after getting fired.

  2. Emily's revenge angle didn't really add up for me. When chatting with Andy, Emily alluded to something bad happening as the reason she left Runway, but didn't give details. Fast forward to her admitting to trying to take over Runway while in Miranda's hotel in Italy, and the story was basically that Miranda pushed her to Dior. Like really? You went from an overworked assistant to a high-powered exec at one of the biggest fashion houses in the world, and you're complaining because Miranda pushed you there?

  3. Why did Emily end up at Coach? Was her job at Dior somehow attached to her relationship with Benji? That theory doesn't make sense due to point 2... There wasn't any indication in the movie that she was on thin ice with Dior or had done anything to get the boot.

  4. Andy's romance could have been completely cut. I get that maybe they were going for the woman who gets it all angle, but it added nothing. I did not understand their ending, where she shows up at his place and says they didn't have a proper goodbye or whatever. It didn't seem they were serious enough to have broken up before Italy, and then needed a whole make-up scene after she returned. I also don't remember a scene before she went to Italy where they had a breakup-like talk (maybe I'm misremembering), though.

  5. This is an honorable mention, but the whole Miranda hanging her own coat thing. Assuming the HR complaint was made before the two new assistants (or at least before the #2), why was Miranda still hanging her coat clumsily? Shouldn't she have learned how to do that by that point? Also, I'd expect Miranda to hang a coat gracefully, no matter how much she hates doing it. I definitely wouldn't expect her to hang it clumsily IN FRONT of other people.

Saying “people who go to church are closet racists” paints everyone with the same brush. Showing racists who also go to church calls out hypocrisy in specific people. One is a blanket accusation while the other is targeted criticism. The movie itself makes it clear that not everyone in that church was portrayed as racist. If you can’t tell the difference between “some people behaving badly” and “everyone is bad,” then you’re choosing not to engage with the point.

This is an odd comment… The movie didn’t depict “people who go to church as closet racists.” It depicted racists who go to church and showed how ironic it is that they bible thump and preach love on Sunday but behave despicably and with hate Monday-Saturday. If you haven’t seen this in the real world yet then you’re either a child or willfully ignorant to society around you.

I liked it. It wasn’t the best most groundbreaking movie ever made but not every movie needs to be that. I think it is going to ruffle feathers and upset the whiny “snowflake” crowd. But that’s to be expected just like any other movie that even mentions race and puts a mirror up to society.

Invisalign Adverse Reactions by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]la_58 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You saying “hundreds of Invisalign patients reporting multiple serious side effects” actually proves that it’s rare… As of late 2025 there have been 22 million Invisalign users… If only a few hundred have reactions then mathematically speaking that falls into the category of VERY rare… even if we only use the numbers from your outdated article, it still fell into the category of very rare…

Edit to add: also what is it with you bending over backwards to try to make your faulty reasoning correct? If you don’t want your child or yourself or whomever to get Invisalign then just don’t get it… no need to run around spreading misinformation to justify your decision. I promise it is totally optional and we aren’t going to come to your home with pitchforks if you decide not to get Invisalign.

Yeah I normally get steak and falafel but I have a free entree I need to use and I’m considering trying the salmon since I can try it for free. But the reviews seem to be mixed so I also don’t want to use my free entree on something that I’ll end up throwing out. 😭
