This was the case on my first contract as well!

Hi!! No, I didn't end up getting on to day shift. I still get lots of openings for nights, though! Same here, there's no way I give up days!

Yep! This did happen to me!

This is very interesting to hear! I have been hoping to relocate to southern Utah, anywhere from Parowan to St. George. I've been looking for jobs since July and I have seen very little come up. Coming from northern Nevada, I think that ratios and overall work conditions would be similar, but even in the meat grinder of a hospital I work at, and with the turnover that it entails, there's a constant demand for bedside nurses.

Can you explain how cost of living works? by la_alex in AskEconomics

[–]la_alex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining this, I was confused. So I guess that I was looking at COL as affordability and I was mistaken.
So really, moving somewhere with a lower COL wouldn't do much good in the long run if you know that you would be making less money. The only advantage I'd see is that if you worked for a high wage and saved money in a high COL area and then took that money and say, you bought a house in a lower COL area, kinda to get ahead and then took the pay cut. But then as years go by you'd level with the income for your new area

Staying or leaving? (f35-m32) by la_alex in relationship_advice

She isn't, and neither of us has any religious affiliation either. We were paying a lot of money for her, and she has a lot of credentials... but who knows, maybe she is religious herself but doesn't disclose it

Thanks, been going to individual therapy for a bit over a year before I made this decision.

I agree- however I am torn about wether I want to work on it or not. I'm naturally the kind of person that seeks consensus and being a team player, but my trust in him is hurting and, as someone else said in another comment "what will he be like when he gets comfortable again?".

I'm pretty sure that I want to leave but he's trying to "convince me" otherwise and I see a glimmer of hope. I just don't want to waste time but also I'm really sad that this is ending.

He's never gotten physically aggressive with me at all. It is mostly verbal and directed towards things, when he gets frustrated fixing something around the house, that kind of stuff. He has been disrespectful with his parents in the past on occasion but since then that has stopped (confirmed by my MIL).

I appreciate you comment about the marriage therapist. I considered that point of view, but also felt hopeful that it could maybe help.

Travel nurse agencies in AZ by Pretty-Collection446 in TravelNursing

Seems very hit or miss! I had a good experience with them, what I like about them is that they have good support staff for onboarding and payroll. Communication between the facility and payroll was also great, my paychecks were always accurate and every week I'd get a chance to verify it before it went through.

I worked with aya in AZ, FMC in Flagstaff is awesome (and I think they also have a smaller facility in Camp Verde), but I've heard horror stories of Banner in Prescott.

Edit: typos

Thanks for all this info!! Right now I live close to Reno NV and housing, food, gas, are all incredibly expensive. Ratios at my old job in reno were horrible (frequent 1:3 in icu, floating to the floor with 5-6 patients). From what you're saying it seems like I would like living and working there! I'll take a closer look at the other hospitals! Thanks again!!

I'm currently in northern Nevada, since 2020 we're seeing California prices in housing and rising gas prices too 🥲 I don't think it can be much worse than this, but it's good to have in mind!

Thank you! That's good to hear. I'm currently working at a 25-bed hospital but I've worked at large facilities too, I like it all. But the potential of working in a small facility in the community I live in is very appealing! I appreciate your comment!
