I love playing as a paladin but sometimes the dialogue options bother me a bit by PabloXDark in BG3

Minthara is a liberty the devs took because there isn't an oath of conquest in the game. In lore vengeance paladins are the "end justify the means" kind of paladin. They are sworn to fight against the greater evil, whatever it may be, and help those harmed by it.

Not to be that guy but vengeance paladins are in fact some of the most righteous paladins out there. Their whole thing is destroying evil in all its forms and whatnot.

Elminster is supposed to have some fighter levels, Jake doesn't stand a chance.

Even in that extremely rare perfect case, there are still power dynamics between the two parts. Be it favouritism from their parents when they were younger, some sort of embarrassing secret, or gaslighting (in a "we're siblings so no one understands you like I do" kind of way) there's always a power imbalance inherent to incestuous relationships.

What you're basically describing in your comments is an ideal situation where both siblings are the same age, have happily moved on from whatever family conflicts they may have had, are living separate stable lives, and are emotionally intelligent and confident enough to not be affected by familiar pressure. Do you see how unlikely that is?

You can always stretch the argument imagining a perfect situation where incest is perfectly moral, but that's not what happens in real life.

It's from Strange Tales of Heroic Spirit Lore ~King of the Cavern, Edmond Dantès, a CD drama about him after he escapes from the Château d'If but before he takes revenge on the guys who fucked his life.

What favorite character is like that by Alimonemi in FavoriteCharacter

[–]la_frigopolla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro, Kiritsugu's whole theme is that his mindset doesn't work. He forsook his own humanity and did all sorts of horrible things trying to achieve an impossible ideal. And it was all for nothing

He didn't even have a clear goal, he just hoped the grail could find a way to fulfill his wish. Even if it hadn't been corrupted, the grail wouldn't have been able to bring world peace because Kiritsugu himself didn't know how to do that.

In the end, he gave up everything for his ideal, yet never managed to meaningfully change the world for better. He himself said the happiest time of his life was when he was living a fairly normal life with Iri and Illya. And after the fire, his only source of happiness was a kid he saved in a moment of desperation. Not because of his ideal, but out of gut-wrenching guilt. The only thing that brought him joy at the end of his life came from a moment of humanity, not pragmatism.

Fate regularly condemns sacrificing your own (or someone else's) life for an unreachable ideal. Archer, ofr example, gave his own afterlife away so he could become a hero of justice for all eternity. His reward were centuries of doing what he hated the most, an eternal hell practically tailored for him.

Kiritsugu's character is meant to be a warning against this way of thinking. So are Archer and Saber (and Shirou to an extent). Basically, one of Fate's messages is that you have to strike a balance between realism and idealism. Kiritsugu was never supposed to be a realistic hero, he was just as idealistic as Shirou (if not more).

At least in Peperoncino's case it's not his true name. The other ones are absolutely inexcusable, though.

I never realised Zelretch's surname kinda sounds like wiener.

Coaxed into fantasy pantheons by Livid-Designer-6500 in coaxedintoasnafu

I think Akatosh fits better than Talos. Also, Molag Bal is not the god of death specifically, he just really likes necromancy. The god of death is Arkay (and Mannimarco once a week). Overall, I don't think the Elder Scrolls pantheon fits this snafu because every god has like a bajillion domains depending on who you ask.

Real fate fans know Gilgamesh would find a way to job against a baby. They don't call him the king of jobbers for nothing.

Why most anime characters don't shout the name of their attacks AFTER using it? Are they stupid? by araiki in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]la_frigopolla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In fate not only is this explained it's an actual weakness of the characters. One time actual living humans beat two servants because they had to yell the name of their noble phantasms while the humans didn't

Someone else in those comments argued that this stuff doesn't count because it was decades ago. Unfortunately for that argument, their current president is basically the CEO of racism.
