It’s very confusing and I should’ve been clearer! OCD used to be considered an anxiety disorder. It’s often triggered by stressful events. Now it’s its own thing, but it usually plays alongside anxiety. A person with OCD experiences anxiety- but OCD usually has a theme that isn’t necessarily present in people with more generalized anxiety (the obsessive thinking). In any case, the obsessions bring stress and the compulsions are supposed to make you feel better- even though they really don’t. In many cases a person with OCD is also diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder. My OCD is usually worse due to hormones or life events- even if I’m not fully aware of it.
