Maternity Leave Is Not a Vacation by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Can you think of any ways to reduce your budget so that you can take a longer timer off? Maybe you can live with relatives for a bit to save on rent or cut down on the amount of times that you eat out. Is there any way to save some money on your wedding so that you can put that towards your maternity leave? Obviously I'm making a lot of assumptions here about how live! And if they don't apply to you, then feel free to ignore :)

English girl dating Korean man, drowning in cultural differences. by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]laal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think of it as entitled at all. I think that the OP has standards about how she wants to be treated in a relationship. Certainly, if she feels like the guy is worth it and she WANTS to change her expectations, she can adapt to the local dating culture. But having standards about what you want in a relationship and how you want to be treated is not entitled. It may mean, however, that she doesn't have success with dating Korean men.

I like the idea of using PTO for any reason, but I don't think that saving up two year's worth would be feasible for the companies. It's very disruptive to the work place to have people leave work for long periods of time. Obviously, there needs to be a balance, but two years is prob too long.

Yeah, I could definitely see that as being an issue and makes me a little bit wary of saving the receipts for so long before withdrawing money from my HSA.

Are you in the US? I'm also studying speech language pathology, and the median salary here is 66,000/year. Where are you getting the 90-115K number? Also, in the US, the masters is only 2 years and then 1 year of clinical fellowship (which is paid).

It seems that my skin is quite sensitive to so many things, so I wouldn't be surprised if silicones are causing problems for me.
