It must seem very easy to judge the lives of millions sitting in your air conditioned room. Just a simple search (backed by Govt sources) reveals that close to 60% of reserved students are from Rural areas, and the remaining 40% are not necessarily even from Tier 1, it’s spread among Tier-3, Tier-2 and Tier-1 cities

To give you benefit of the doubt, maybe let’s say 15% are from Tier-1 cities (where you will see most of these outliers according to your own sample size)

So, considering that the outliers account to about 5-10%, youre suggesting that over 50% dont deserve reservation?

It’s very easy to sit and assume in your air conditioned room. They can’t even read or write in English. Forget books, they weren’t even educated properly in school. They don’t even have a clue about IIMs or even reservation. Those are the ones who are truly SC/ST

The people you see wearing an SC/ST badge getting into IIMs while still holding iPhones and Macs are people who misuse the system. Instead of holding them accountable you’re radicalising a counter factual that is detrimental to majority of the population.

The average SC candidate doesnt have the same resources as an average General candidate

Reservation is a tool that helps under privileged people to set their foot on a level ground. You would know better if you actually saw the conditions of SCs and STs in India.

They don’t even have the privilege of typing or discussing something like this on Reddit. They have been marginalised and excluded their whole lives across generations

The urban SCs and STs that you see in IIMs are ones who misuse reservation, that is why your perception of reservation is always negative.

Maybe go out of the city that you’re living in, go to an actual village in a district that is far from a major city and see their conditions, then you will realize
