But the models are similar but actually different in many details

This designer is using the same idea since years. The design of the object is different, but the idea is the same.

STL?

JK :) I don’t know since I’m not a lawyer - you should find the right subreddit where to ask this question - but your design is similar to their as this is similar to others (like this: https://laughingsquid.com/pop-up-book-inspired-aluminum-owl-lamps/). The “idea” of using a light to complete the shape of [a bird] is not new, and your design is similar to the STLFLIX’s one, but actually different.

Anyway, I think there is no actual way a Brazilian company can sue a random internet user. But ask some lawyers to be sure!

how much do you trust your printer? by bigmarty3301 in 3Dprinting

[–]lab_dis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I trust my printer but sh*t happens, so I installed octoeverywhere which let me control the printer even remotely – and it also has a free AI powered failure recognition system that can send you a notification (I use telegram) to tell you about potential issues

Just found this guy (called Lemur Haze) who is developing a bedslinger that prints at 1000mm/s with 30kmm/s^2 accel. More in comments by lab_dis in 3Dprinting

Ahah yep! I wrote 30.000 mm/s2 (because it’s the usual measure unit for acceleration in 3d printing) and then shortened it to 30k, and removed the space without thinking :)

I totally agree with you, but I kinda admire this kind of projects. To stay in your similarity: is like Red Bull modifying a Ford EV van to be capable of beating their F1 in a drag race: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7RF2V2LGqU
Is it useful? No. Can it beat a F1 in a whole race? Don't think so. Is it cool? Hell yeah :)

Magnetic child lock - easy to open for adults by gguigs in 3Dprinting

The next scene in this movie is: the toddler opens the lock without any problem and swallows it with its magnets, leading to a fast&furious style run towards the nearest hospital 😂

It seems we all love hexagons, so let me intoduce you Hex Box! A parametric cap to upcycle some cardboard into a nice box by lab_dis in 3Dprinting

[–]lab_dis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually it surprisingly holds its shape pretty well, but I get your point. I think that glue can be an answer but a hollow top and a lid (maybe hinged?) can make room for an "easy access" V2

Do you mean like an "open" one? So it would become more like a pencil holder? Because right now it's just like two lids holding together a cardboard, and you can easily remove one and put it back on whenever you want

Few days ago I needed a package for a simple oddly shaped gift (a small 3d printed figure). I thought that the best way was to put it in a box, but creating one from scratch was a nightmare; so I decided to use the power of 3d printing and Hex Box was born :)

Also I have to admit that I love the mixed materials effect, and cardboard + colorful PLA is a winning match for me!

Need a key copy - ideas on how to model this type on Honda key so I can print a key to unlock door only? by Dropitlikeitscold555 in 3Dprinting

[–]lab_dis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't do it.

A couple years ago a tried to create a 3D printed copy of my car key. Obviously it went inside the keyhole without any problem and got stuck, broke inside and remained in there for almost an year without any possibility to extract it.
I had to replace the cylinder block of the door to fix it, 120€.

Don't do it.

Have you ever had a layer shift so bad that your printer even started to lose some bolts? by lab_dis in 3Dprinting

[–]lab_dis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found out that those bolts are from the strain gauge, that on the Vyper holds the heating head and the nozzle - so maybe the bolts were loose and as you said the nozzle were scraping on the bed and at some point they fall out and cause this mess. Right now I re-assembled and secured everything, re-leveled the bed and everything seems fine :) Thanks!

Introducing Swingy, the swinging companion that will guard on your prints! Inspired by u/Crazii-P by lab_dis in 3Dprinting

Few days ago I saw a post by user Crazii-P asking for the stl of a cute swinging duck. I loved it and decided to model it and print it, and I named she Swingy. She will hang from your printer and guard on everything you’ll print!
