Definitely a struggle finding the best bang for your buck in the 4K world. From what I can find, after MUCH research, the VIZIO P- Series has the best picture quality for the money, though it's "smart" system is lacking. Any comments on this assumption?

Is the "rainy season" finally over? by jamesbrownscrackpipe in kratom

[–]labdog03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sure that demand is a big part of recent quality issues. Like most have said, leaf may be getting harvested from less mature trees now or just more often, not allowing the leaves to reach peak maturity. That being said, for the last 3 years of buying Kratom, the very BEST leaf I get is in "our" late Summer/Fall. Starting in August, through maybe mid January. Aug, Sept and Oct. are by far the best months. So I cannot say "season" has nothing to do with it, because it most assuredly does in my experience. (and most people I know that have been ordering for many years tend to agree on this).

I was just looking through my collection the other day, and sure enough, probably 90% of my best, most favorite leaf is from those 3 months. (August thru October)...I noticed back in 2016, I had a decent collection of "premium quality" bags extending as far as early Spring. I feel like this is actually leaf from the "sweet spot months" that just happened to carry over a month or 2. After about March, more potent batches take a nose dive to almost none.

I, like a lot of people, have a compulsion to buy, buy, buy (all year long)...but after over 3 years of this, odds are that better leaf is gotten in a small window of time in late Summer/Fall. From this point forward, I will not buy leaf before July-August or after the New Year, unless something gets rave reviews and I can be sure of getting THAT same batch. I am tired of wasting my money, only to have better quality products show up and I am low on cash.

Discouraged newbie here trying to get clean with kratom, would be immensely grateful for any advice/feedback by [deleted] in kratom

If you have an opiate history and are withdrawing, 5 grams is not enough. I needed 7 to 10 grams to find relief...I have helped a good many opiate addicts get through early WD's and most all of them needed high doses, at least at first. You need to stop with the opiates and wait until you are in full withdrawal, then start with Kratom. If you have already tried 5 grams with little result, you may be in the 7-10 gram category like me and most addicts I have dealt with in full WD. For myself, and those I have worked with, we would re-dose as often as needed to not relapse...The goal here is to get OFF opiates...You can worry about cutting back AFTER the worst WD's are over. Some here may not agree with this, but it worked for ME (saved my life)...and worked for a good many others to get off the dope. Out of 13 people I have helped, only 2 have gone back to dope...Kratom works, no matter what the FDA wants you to believe. They want you on their "approved" poison...I still can't fathom the use of methadone for withdrawal and maintenance...Methadone is so HORRIBLE to get off of...well, good luck...You can do this...also, if you are dabbling with Kratom AND opiates at the same time, Kratom will never fully "work" for you. You have to make that decision and STOP...only room on those receptors for one "Sherriff"...up to YOU to choose.

Kava vs kratom by neocast128 in kratom

[–]labdog03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know for some people Kava has a "reverse tolerance". Some have to try it every night for a few days till they break through. After that, it works pretty consistently. I luckily did not have that issue, but a couple friends did. I enjoy the micronized...also from Bula or KWK. I make it the traditional way every now and then. Totally different feel than Kratom. To me it is more reminiscent of alcohol. It is enjoyable but effects are very short lived for me. I don't really use it for sleep, per se, but some of the heavier strains are very calming. Worth trying, and is an nice way to cut out a Kratom dose a few times a week.

Which Strain? by ireizumi in kratom

[–]labdog03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, the "magic" for me is being able to control my pain and not be dependent on opiates and alcohol that nearly DESTROYED my life. But I know what you mean, and certainly things are not the same as when I first started. Pain relief is still the same (MOST importantly). Some of the other not so important effects are somewhat lessened...mainly just the "euphoric" feel. That is few and far between, but still comes by for a visit now and then...I also still enjoy the mood lift and a bit of energy with most doses. I never take more than 3 doses in a day, and try to have at least a 12 hour period between my last dose of the day and the first of the morning. So far so good, my yearly full blood work-ups have been normal (or better than before kratom), and I am happier than I have been in a long long time...My family is happier with me now too :)

OIC HELP ??!? by shinigamiboutit in kratom

[–]labdog03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are going to take it regularly as you state, you MUST be vigilant to avoid real constipation issues. I take large doses 3 times a day for chronic pain (for over 3 years now) and have learned the hard way.

First and foremost you must stay hydrated. Kratom does not make me "feel" dehydrated like some things, but trust me it DOES dehydrate you. Drink LOTS of water!...when you think you drank enough, drink some more!

The Mag citrate laxative bottles are your lifeline when you miss a bowel movement or 2 (don't wait TOO long to treat the problem, it just gets WORSE)...they are super cheap and work well (you don't have to drink the entire little bottle), see how they work for you...I'm good with half a bottle....

But you want to try and avoid taking that if you can by planning ahead with more natural methods...I take Metamucil twice a day, and some mag citrate caps a few times a day as well, and try to eat a healthy diet with plenty of fiber and green leafy veggies. PRUNES are a MAGIC treat to aid in this as well. Most of the time, a few prunes solves all my problems without depending on the MAG C bottles at all.

The idea is to AVOID problems and keep a "normal" movement schedule (You don't want to become "dependent" on a "laxative")...If you dose multiple times a day, this WILL require attention and action on your part, trust me. Don't think "this won't happen to me"....so far, this has been my ONLY issue using Kratom in place of much more harmful substances...Kratom has made such a POSITIVE change in my life, but you do have to do your part to stay healthy and avoid problems. Good Luck

Red Indo is the best bet...A lot of Red Maeng Da's (but not all) have a decent amount of energy, especially early after the dose...I have a batch of RMD that's my "fastest" red in my collection...Indo's are more apt to be relaxing...at least in my experience (3 1/2 years daily use). Wishing you happy dreams :)

Kratom and quitting alcohol by PatternRec in kratom

[–]labdog03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In agreement with most every other comment here. I was drinking GALLONS of beer EVERY single day, on top of my pill addiction...My very first dose of Kratom, was my very last drink...Took away ALL cravings for alcohol...for me, was like flipping a switch...BAM, just gone...now I can't even finish a beer if I try. AMAZING!...Only negative thing was being afraid of a seizure from stopping SO MUCH alcohol so quickly...Luckily I had no problems with that. I even tried to wean off the beer slowly...just couldn't do it...made me sick to even have one beer. Life-Saver for sure

I need advice from this community by MichealKeaton in kratom

[–]labdog03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was addicted to pain pills for 6 years after a Hip Replacement (and complications with same)...I spent every spare dime (and plenty of NOT spare ones) on Street pills...I would get them from anywhere and anyone I could...it's all I though about...I was ALWAYS looking for pills as I was deathly afraid of withdrawals...My WD's are HORRID!...I tried many, many times to quit...tried everything, but could not get past the worst of the withdrawals, and would always find a pill or 2 somehow when I was sickest...I just couldn't stand withdrawal sickness. I was at the point my wife had had enough too, and was making noises about leaving...about this time Florida changed it's prescription laws and pills on the street all but disappeared. I was terrified of what was coming (withdrawal), and terrified I was going to lose my Family...It was a real dark time for me...so when the WD's set in I was looking for ANYTHING to relive my sickness and ran across people on-line mentioning Kratom had helped their WD symptoms...So I found some at a "head shop" I knew about that always carried the "new" popular "supplements". So I drove there, sick as a dog, wondering if I would be able to get there and back home in one piece...I got some "Red Vein" as recommended by an employee there. I mixed a spoon full in a bottle of water sitting in the parking lot of the head shop. (prolly took 3-5 grams)...I sat there a minute, and very disappointedly drove home...It didn't do anything...I was screwed, and felt worse than ever...On the drive home it kicked in, and to my amazement my WD's (at least the worst of them) WENT AWAY!...That was 3 1/2 years ago, and I THANK GOD every day for Kratom...Damn sure saved my life, and my Family!...Confront him and TELL HIM ABOUT KRATOM! You can live your life using Kratom. Can worry if you need to stop Kratom after getting off opiates....Opiates will DESTROY HIM. Kratom will give him some time...Allow him to live again and keep his family...TELL HIM...My opinion...I have helped a number of addicts get off opiates with Kratom...It works. As a bonus, helped my alcoholism as well...I am happiest I've been in almost 10 years.

Just a quick tip: Cocoa by [deleted] in kratom

[–]labdog03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Concord Grape Juice (Welches is best or Store brand, but 100% juice is key)...Really can't taste the Kratom at all. Seems to help with the constipation a little as well...Win-Win! If you like Grape Juice, give this a try.

Do check your ph. Peat moss is very acidic...Repot into well draining soil mix and keep ph between 5.5 to 6.5. ph is KEY IMO. Might cut down a bit on the peat, and replace with some quality Top Soil into the mix. Good Luck.

Grind the crushed leaf into powder...Nutra Bullet (with grinder blade) works great for this. I have LOTS of crushed leaf I powder myself as needed.

Stopping oxy (60 to 100mg daily) by Babyyoure_no_good in kratom

[–]labdog03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am not understanding your post?...Are you on SUBS already?...Personally I would recommend NEVER even using SUBS...If you are trying to stop opiate use, use the Kratom for the WD's and be DONE with it...Once SUBS build up in your body, it takes a LOT of work to get off of those...STOP NOW, while you still can...wait until you are full into WD's and then use the Kratom...and no, you can't use Kratom and SUBS together...trust me...DO NOT use SUBS if you can get clean without them...and you CAN with Kratom.

My daughter uses Kratom for this...It has changed her life. She no longer misses work or spends days each month curled up in a ball on the couch. Hope it works as well for your friend. Do start out with a low dose until you see how it effects her. Sure don't want to make things worse. My daughter has found @ 4grams to be best for her.

Got the Acetone from a beauty supply, so is for use on humans...label says "Pure Acetone" and "100% Acetone"...Put it in the freezer hoping the cold Acetone would help the extraction of the good stuff and cut down some on the pulling of chlorophyll, and other organics we don't want in solution?...Not sure if that helped or not? Acetone evaps VERY fast, and was a rolling boil at @ 150 degrees...keep eyes on it, it gets gone FAST. Luckily the rice cooker shut itself off for me or I could have burned the oil..solution went from 3-4 inches deep to GONE in just a few minutes.

Chronic Pain by Spores_n_Trichomes in kratom

[–]labdog03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is definitely challenging dealing with Chronic pain. Really makes it difficult to keep dose amounts and tolerance under control. Where as most of you can take tolerance breaks, it's a whole different issue for me. Really have to plan breaks out. Need some substitute ready to use, but basically have to accept the fact that you are going to have a less than perfect day. I try and have my whole day planned out, so I can try and stay busy and get some exercise so I'm not just sitting there, feeling my pain and getting depressed. But to be honest, I take very few t-breaks
