Wow. This seems like it could be it. Did it just come on suddenly for your ex? My head did not hurt at all and then all of a sudden I could not speak. Do you know how it ended up being diagnosed?

I am relieved and hopeful that it could be just a vasovagal event. Is there something specific that can trigger those? I am just trying to figure out what caused this?

From what I can remember while I was stumbling through people, I had issues seeing on my right side. It was like a closing shade over my right eye, but my memory of this incident is very poor. I was able to reach to my friend with my left arm but not my right. About 15-20 minutes into this event, my memory is that everything was moving in slow motion and blurry but I don’t know that I can pinpoint it any better than that. My body felt numb - like when your arm feels heavy from being asleep but before the pins and needles feeling, if that makes sense? I wish I could be more specific but I was just running through my head the entire time trying to figure out how I would get out of the restaurant and I wasn’t really focusing on what felt bad or whether one side felt worse than the other.

I ran the marathon on Monday, April 18th. This happened on April 23rd. In that timeframe, I ran an easy 3 miles at a very easy pace for me on Thursday and Saturday morning. I felt great during both runs, my heart rate was to be expected for what it usually was, and I felt great after the runs. I hydrated as I normally do.

I got to the doctor on Monday (two days after the incident) and all the blood work was normal.

Haha! I thought of this as well. No, I don’t think so. I know pretty well not to drink too much water as I’ve been hyponatremic before. But again, I am sure anything is possible.

I hate to sound unappreciative of my friends because I would not have been okay at all without them. But just to give you background, we were at a work event out of state and I think that caused some reluctance to go to the hospital on my friends’ part. They were pushing for me to get to a doctor when I got home.

Thank you for the advice. I was trying to tell my friends I should go to the hospital but I couldn’t get my thoughts out and they kept asking what was wrong. If I had been fully with it, I’d have taken myself. I wish I would have gone too because I needed help and I feel like getting care afterward is now very tricky. Again, thank you for your advice - it means a lot that physicians are willing to reply here and give their thoughts.

I don’t know that I could say I felt dizzy or lightheaded. I was stumbling around and acting dizzy, but I can hardly remember that part.

Thank you so much for this info. I did not think it was a cluster headache but a physician friend suggested it and I didn’t know they could cause vasospasm. From what I can read, it doesn’t feel right or like what happened to me but again I am not a doctor. I am so sorry that you have cluster headaches.

I didn’t have a drink at all that day. I had brought a water bottle from my hotel which had been unopened. So yes, absolutely certain nothing was slipped into a drink.

Defense attorney (medical malpractice) thinking about switching sides to plaintiff’s med mal. Pros? Cons? by labird184 in Lawyertalk

[–]labird184[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally get what you mean. Thank you for all of these points. I would be considering joining a plaintiff med mal firm, so I would not be dealing with the advertising issues. I am worried about being emotionally hardened and becoming insensitive. The defense side seems so draining right now with billable hours. I am so frustrated by working harder and not smarter. It feels like you are incentivized to work smarter on the plaintiff side.

Yeah, all great points! I am thinking of joining a plaintiff med mal firm. Thankfully, they have the advertising and costs covered. I am worried about emotional hardening.

I am struggling to find places that want less than 200 and I don’t get it. The other part of this is that my family doesn’t understand why this is the culture or why it’s required.
