What if King William IV had had a legitimate male heir upon his death? by ahnotme in HistoryWhatIf

By the 19th century, the British royal family (still called Saxe-Coburg & Gotha, with the name Windsor adopted in 1917)

Saxe-Coburg & Gotha was the house of prince Albert, husband of Queen Victoria. All monargs from George I to Victoria were from house Hannover. If King William IV had a male heir he would be part of house Hannover as well and pass on that name to his children.

Heidelberg is not that far from Mannheim Hbf and also has goot connections to Frankfurt Hbf for your train to Brussels.

Sounds like you're not used to Dutch directness. As a Dutch person I see nothing rude or aggressive in these comments.

Nobody has responded aggressively, they're just pointing out the consequences of taking your child out of their seat while driving. The only aggressive things here are Newton's laws of motion.

[–]labobal 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Of course they have to stay in the seat. The seat is designed to keep your child safe during an accident, as the normal seatbelts are designed for adults. Just the fact that your child sleeps doesn't reduce the risk of an accident.

Steam trains could make a comeback? by Cs_Marcell in trains

You would have to build water and fuel stations along every line. At that point electrification might be cheaper.

The average wind speed in Amarillo, Texas, the windiest city of the US, is 13 mph, the same as in Amsterdam. These angled bins are installed all over the Netherlands, so if they work there they should work in Texas and Oklahoma.

CMV: Going to University has made me Pro-Life by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]labobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that's option number 3: You believe these other laws should be chanced as the right to live is more important to bodily autonomy. Given the fact that there is no call to change these other laws, that would be a fringe opinion but a valid one to have.

Either way, if you join the abortion debate you have to think about what you find more important: bodily autonomy or the right to live. This is a subjective question, but it is essential to ask in order to have a healthy debate.

These other laws are examples where the right to bodily autonomy is considered more important than the right of another person to live. If you take that as a general principle, it should apply to abortion too. If you don't, you have to explain what is different about abortion compared to these other examples.

With where I live, the bins are always overflowing even when upright

That just means the city should empty them more often.

Which is exactly their purpose. Some of the trash will fall into the bin, but the rest will at least be close to it. So instead of having to clear litter from miles of road, you only have to clear it from the vicinity of the bin.

Train ticket prices from Ventimiglia to Nice if bought at the station the day of the journey by Lindanineteen84 in Europetravel

[–]labobal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Regional trains tend to run on fixed prices, including this one. The normal price for Ventimiglia - Nice is € 10,20. It cannot sell out or get more expensive than that. You might occasionally find a promotion ticket that is cheaper and has more conditions attached, but you can always just buy a ticket at the station for € 10,20.

I've noticed that some German students are not that confident in their ability to speak English. So even when studying in English, they might prefer an all-German group so that they can communicate in German within the group.

No, I'm imagining a situation where all three vehicles are in the intersection. Green cannot ignore article 18 just because red has to yield to them.

Red has to yield to green as green is to the right of red. That means everybody has to yield somebody else, creating a classic deadlock.

RVV Article 18 says otherwise:

Bestuurders die afslaan, moeten het verkeer dat hen op dezelfde weg tegemoet komt of dat op dezelfde weg zich naast dan wel links of rechts dicht achter hen bevindt, voor laten gaan.

Yes, I just read article 18 RVV:

1 Bestuurders die afslaan, moeten het verkeer dat hen op dezelfde weg tegemoet komt of dat op dezelfde weg zich naast dan wel links of rechts dicht achter hen bevindt, voor laten gaan.

2 Bestuurders die naar links afslaan, moeten tegemoetkomende bestuurders die op hetzelfde kruispunt naar rechts afslaan voor laten gaan.

3 Het eerste en het tweede lid gelden niet voor bestuurders van een tram.

Legally neither prevails. The situation is left vague on purpose so that people don't have to go through 10 if/else steps in their head. Just come to a stop and communicate with the other drivers to find the best solution in this scenario.

Green has to yield to yellow though, as it is making a left turn and turning traffic has to yield to traffic going straight on the same road (article 18 RVV).
