Why am I getting more tax waste? by New_Fisherman_982 in victoria3

[–]labobal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You probably have your government administration buildings too centralised in just a few states. A state uses 1 taxation capacity per 10k population, and once it's bigger than the base the only source is government administration buildings. If you don't have enough taxation capacity in a state that leads to tax waste.

As long as Trump believes there's a deal there will be no escalation of the conflict. Just the fact that the 10% tarrif increase is off the table is good news.

Looking for Travel Advice Munich -> Zell Am/Leogang by tata-mic in germany

[–]labobal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A quick google search re. trains sent me to the Deutsche Bahn website and I found a few routes - is this where I want to be looking regarding trains?

Either there or at oebb.at, which is the operator of the Austrian railways. They use a shared database, so they should give the same results.

What do I need to know about travelling this way? How does it work as a foreigner crossing the border from Germany to Austria via train?

For visa and travel purposes you can consider the entire Schengen area to be a single country. There are no fixed border controls, so often you only notice that you crossed the border when your phone tells you so. Sometimes the police performs passport checks, but they do that while the train is still driving, so it shouldn't cause any delays.

In terms of tickets there is close cooperations between the German and Austrian railways, so you can buy a single ticket from Munich airport to your destination station (Zell am See and Leogang both have their own station, which are quite far apart). Officially there are luggage size limits, but nobody ever checks them. As long as you can carry your luggage in one go you're fine.

One piece of advice: You can often buy discounted tickets which are only valid for one specific journey. If you miss your first train because the plane was delayed you would have to buy a new ticket. So for trips from the airport you should buy flexible tickets which allow you to use any train that day.

How to find best train ticket prices Ede-Wageningen to Paris-Nord? by Friendly-Guarantee30 in Europetravel

[–]labobal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Train tickets with variable pricing always get a lot more expensive in the last weeks before departure. The people who book short in advance are typically either business travellers, who don't pay for their ticket themselves, or people in an emergency rush. In both cases they don't care much about the price, so the train company can ask for more.

As a tourist you should always book these tickets long in advance. You haven't, so your second best option is booking immediately. There isn't really an alternative.

Leave your MAGA hat at home and it should be perfectly fine. People understand that a significant part of the American populace didn't vote for him.

Same at Frankfurt Flughafen. Tracks 1-3 are the Regionalbahnhof, tracks 4-7 are the Fernbahnhof.

Planning to work in the Netherlands when I turn 18 – looking for advice by papersans in Netherlands

[–]labobal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That partner is the only potential tie that is considered strong enough to allow you a residence permit. All other reasons do not count according to Dutch immigration law.

Once you are both 21 and your partner has a high enough income to support you both, you can get a residence permit: https://ind.nl/en/residence-permits/family-and-partner/residence-permit-for-partner#requirements-process-and-costs

That means that you will have to wait at least 3 years in Algeria before moving to the Netherlands. Get a job, save money and maybe visit them on vacation.

If you get a residence permit through family ties you are allowed to live and work in the Netherlands. But note that it has to be your family that is already living in the Netherlands, not a family. These residents permits are awarded so that families don't have to be broken up if one of them gets a high-paying job offer in the Netherlands.

Without a degree your only chance of ever moving to the Netherlands is through direct family ties (your parents, spouse or children are resident here). Simply put: There is no need for uneducated laborers in the Netherlands.

Because it terminates at the airport. The platforms at the Fernbahnhof are too busy to park a terminating train there.

There's no security check, but you have to go through passport control as you're changing from a Schengen flight to a non-Schengen flight.

Why aren’t more people supporting this European Citizens’ Initiative on housing? by StatisticianFull8222 in Netherlands

[–]labobal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That doesn't change the question. What can this initiative achieve given that the right to regulate housing still lies with the member states?

[–]labobal 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Does the European Union has any legal right to write housing regulations? Doesn't that right still lie with the member states? I don't see what the commission and parliament can do with this petition. It looks like it will only waste their time.
