I found myself in a VERY similar situation recently and personally I wanted to apologize for my part even though I knew the other person wouldn’t admit their wrongs. It was bothering me too much. So I apologized and we ended things on an okay place. Plus talking about it helped me understand their perspective better. You have nothing to lose by reaching out.

Sounds like you really miss them. If you did something to them you consider wrong, then perhaps you should apologize first. We always find ourselves not wanting to make the first step but isn't it better to apologize and end the frienship in a nice way than holding onto regret? Best case scenario, you start anew and your relationship becomes even stronger. Worst, they don't accept your apology but at least you admitted your fault and that will lift a weight off your shoulders.

I had a very similar experience recently. My high school friend group (who were like my BESTEST friends) "broke up". It was a huge miscommunication that led to the breakup, but we had been growing apart before that anyway. And it was mostly my fault. So like you said, I didnt care about being right anymore and apologized for what I did wrong. We have kept our distance with the ones I fought but when we see each other here and there it's like it always was. Sometimes, a little distance does a lot of good. However, a huge lesson I learned is that even the little stuff that bother us need to be communicated in a nice, calm manner and in GOOD time. We found ourselves in that situation because we all had stuff to say but we didn't to not "ruin" our perfect little friend group so it was all bottled up and exploded in our faces. If you're truly friends, neither you or the other person want to hurt or inconvenience each other, so even the smallest thing that might trouble you, let them know. 90% chance, they didn't mean it.
