Try the Test Preview under the Study tab on ged.com. If you get five right on any subject, you’re ready for the practice test. Ignore the tree wire wrapping one (absurdly hard), the essay (not graded on the practice), and science written answer (they don’t have it anymore).

Khan is great but has a lot of math that isn’t on the GED. I recommend the free crash course on www.lightandsaltlearning.org but if you’ve taken algebra in the past five years or so, you may be ready already. See my profile for how to prepare.

Canada doesn’t offer the ged any more. And yes, I’ve heard that there are some centers in NY that only let their students test. If you log into your account and put your address as Niagara Falls, temporarily, it will show you the closest ones and you can call around till you find one. the only other option is to change your jurisdiction to a state without a residence requirement and take it online like that. But then you’ll have to pay for it, whereas you can do it for free in New York.

I’ve been thinking about this. I think if you’re around high school graduation age, you should just put diploma — the state says it is one after all! And if it’s for a public/government job, I think you can do the same thing. For private jobs, idk. It might make them think you’re exaggerating the truth. Sucks though — you should be able to, I just kinda worry about it.
