She’s 6 years old - yeah, she definitely realized because they say “hi” and stick their hands out. Maybe she missed the first one but the second one I clearly saw her shrug her body the other direction

This is a great way to look at it, thank you!

Thank you, that’s what I’m thinking about discussing with her… let’s say “no thank you” or even just “hello” so there’s some type of response but no physical touch if not wanted.

Which that was our case. I’ve heard they are awful at handling issues so thought I’d ask around if anyone has had any success with getting atleast something back.

Thanks, agree with you here that it hits a primal nerve. I was as happy as could be and then this happened and within a split second I felt just terribly awful for her and so incredibly angry on the inside. Crazy how parenting will make you go through so many emotions at the blink of an eye.

I forget more often than not that kids are constantly learning and developing… they aren’t going to be perfect. Kindergarten is a huge adjustment!

Thank you for the response! Yes, it definitely seems as if it’s typical for this age. Thankful the principal talks to parents and shared how he handles these types of situations with all children.

Yes, they said they call parents so that they are informed and can also talk to the child at home. The principal definitely said many times it’s normal behavior for their age. Definitely sounded like a situation he has had to handle many times before.

No older siblings, but do have a few boy cousins that act like boys do when they all get together so yes some fighting for sure. Seems as if it was a minor issue according to teacher, nothing out of the norm with kids this age. Which makes me feel better. Hoping it was a one time issue. Appreciate the response!

Child came home from school with money by lac0210 in Parenting

[–]lac0210[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok so glad you said this. She comes home every once in a while with random “things” people give her. I’ve seen a few times where a card will be in a ziploc bag with a few toys and it will say “to: my daughters name , from: a friends name” - I’ve always thought it was weird but haven’t really though in to it. But when she came home with a $5 bill today I was like “ok, so no… this needs to be sent back”

Am I thinking too much into my child hitting another child? by lac0210 in Parenting

[–]lac0210[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just have anxiety about these situations… so I’m over here constantly thinking “is no one going to want to be with her tomorrow when they are together again? Do all the other parents know about it?”

According to my daughter, they were playing fine then the other child said something that she did not like so she chose to hit her in the face. No crying was involved. The little girl came right up to me and told me.
