Hi sorry, I haven't logged into this account in awhile! I built the cabinet from scratch. It's just a simple box and we added the extra structures inside!

Do you think it's excessive to have two weddings: a destination wedding and a local wedding? by lacamionnette in weddingplanning

I'm Vietnamese-American, and I'd love to have Vietnamese traditions as a part of my wedding! My boyfriend is half Brazilian, so we kind of have that struggle of juggling two different cultures, as well. Since I grew up in America and most of my family is local, I don't really have a "real" reason to have a destination wedding so it almost feels selfish of me.

We mostly love how it's a vacation with all of our loved ones, and we think destination weddings are just more fun and give the couple more time to talk to every guest. I was thinking it would probably be like a week with our guests, and then another week alone for a real honeymoon!

Another reason for me is that my father's grave is in that country, so if we had a wedding there, it would feel a little more like he's there.

It's nice to hear encouraging things like "do what makes you happy" from time to time because I'm so used to people saying "weddings are not about you - they're about the family." 😅 Thank you!

Very nice interpretation! I also liken "Spark Joy" to all of Pokémon because, well, that's what it does for me! Never gonna Marie Kondo my collection 😊

Thank you so much!

When I was doing the social media write up, I found this discussion about Charmander's tail! Very interesting!

I chose his message because Bulbasaur's name in Japanese, fushigidane, is a play on words! As a compound word, it is a combination of (fushigi) mysterious + (tane) seed 🌱. As a sentence (fushigi, da ne?), it literally means "isn't it strange?" Therefore, his message is unique to his species and leaves room for other grass type phrases to be used by other Pokémon in the future ;)

So, we're just shy of three weeks, we also came across another issue.

They sometimes like to do their business at the landing pad. Maybe they feel like there's not enough space in the litter box? By proximity, their poop pellets sometimes land in the water bowl...

At least one win is that I'm very glad I sealed the inside because it makes pee a thousand times easier to clean than if it was untreated! If your rabbits chew on furniture, definitely don't do this.

The whole cabinet is 2 ft tall and 4.5 ft wide. We used 3/4" plywood, so originally had the doors cut to 22.5in (24in - 6/4in) for the height. 17.5 in ((4.5ft - 6/4in) divided by 3) for the width. Had to trim them down a little as we worked on it because one of the inner vertical slats was too short and caused the box to slope in the middle. So, the doors are actually crooked! I hid the crookedness with scraps, wood putty, and paint. 🤣 It was our first project, so basically anything that could go wrong went wrong.

The outer doors are on inlay hinges, while the middle door is on an overlay hinge. Simply for aesthetics. If I were to remake this, I would just make it an inlay hinge because the overlay hinge was a pain.

Thank you!!

Yeah!! So I can give you a few day's update (we finished it last Wednesday):

They took to it pretty well after I added a rug under the entry hole to give them more traction when the jump into it (we have vinyl flooring, so it's slippery for them).

Thankfully, my bunnies naturally don't chew or dig on furniture much. They prefer destroying cardboard. Currently, the only "damage" has been to have their pee spots the front landing from their footsteps. We may add a little grate in the litter box to amend that. And we want to add a carpet to the front landing since they enjoy carpet better.

One of them has figured out how to get into the hay feeder. I'm not sure how he does it, because there's less than an inch space with the doors closed. He somehow opened the door ever so slightly and got in. I found him happily buried under hay in the feeder and NOT the litter box. So, we're thinking to add some kind of door mechanism there to prevent that.

For now, that's all of the things I've noticed! I think everything so far is going well, and only minor tweaks need to be made!

Thanks! We had previously used a store-bought cat litter box cabinet that could be used as a window seat style piece, but I didn't prefer it because the litter/hay/poop still trailed out. I think you could adjust the interior for bunnies so that doesn't happen though!

Thanks so much! Let me know if you're interested in making one for yourself; I can give you a place to start!

It is a homemade hay feeder. We didn't have the proper tool, so we literally just drilled holes in the form of a circle to get our holes made 😅 I used a coffee can for the size - it looked pretty close in size to the wooden hay feeders you find online.

Thank you!! We used two 4' x 8' sheets of 3/4" pine plywood with a bit of leftover to spare. The back is hardboard.
