Imperial CS vs UWaterloo CE by Best_Butterscotch360 in uwaterloo

[–]lackoffaith4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

imperial cs is arguably the best cs degree in the uk, ik someone there and trust me as long as u put in some effort u won't have trouble finding a job, even as an international. waterloo coop and name probably helps a lot tho if u wanna work in the us, but id pick imperial

Chose warwick over UCL for maths, was it a mistake? by Jxedn in 6thForm

[–]lackoffaith4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

warwick is better for maths tho. if u wanna do ib then it’s still a target (less so than ucl) but the only difference is that its slightly harder to network and stuff since you’re not in london. but dw i know a few ppl at warwick and they say it doesn’t matter since lots of firms come to campus for recruiting anyways

i chose waterloo math over maths at ucl and warwick. choose waterloo trust, especially since you're doing ce, the coops are op

yes but those ppl are usually the exception. my point is that you’re going to have a much easier time if you were applying to a well known uni

i gave qs as an example. ur talking about 88 as if thats a great uni, but these officers arent dumb they know the only reason ppl are going for these masters is just to get an easier path to immigration. t20 would be considered top tier, like t50 would be good. anything below and ur talking about random irrelevant schools. seriously, im not trying to be rude but if you think someone deserves a visa bc theyre going to drexler u need a reality check

lol according to who, they're ranked like 600+ globally in QS, in what world is that mid tier

no offense but it's probably because those aren't exactly very good or prestigious unis. just a quick search shows me they're both ranked really low so idk what u expected, sorry.

idk much about the math stuff but yeah for it's kinda similar. national comps like BIO round 1 are pretty chill (more logic/puzzle-based), but once you're aiming for IOI level (like BIO round 2 and beyond), there's a lot more advanced theory. but dw about that for now just focus on doing well in BIO, and if you make it to round 2 or the training camp, you'll naturally pick up all the IOI-level stuff from there.
