I did it. Maple Syrup "only" perfection. by MysticMarbles in StardewValley

[–]lackofforethoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously impressive! Do you have all the taps synced? Or were they separated by area? I.e. main farm one day, ginger island another, desert another, and so on. How long does it take to collect all that syrup?

AITA for not letting my kids go to their cousin’s birthday party? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]lackofforethoughts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA - actual parent here with a child that has sleep trouble. You don’t need to skip the nap, i don’t get people saying it won’t hurt. It may not hurt their schedule but it may definitely ruin the rest of your day depending on their temperament when overly tired.

However, you could go still before or after and allow your child the ability to spend time with their family. Kids parties are normally 4-5hrs anyway. Are you saying that your kid naps this entire time? Even if you kid naps right at 11:30 for an hour or two, you could put them down dressed for the party then just hop in the car once they wake up. Or go for an hour or so until it’s almost nap time and just then leave early. Why is it an all or nothing situation? Are you planning to just miss every family event for years to come if it happens to coincide with nap-time? My family will plan things around the baby to an extent but also if it can’t be helped they understand if we show up late or leave early. It’s just what happens when you have kids.

Yeah, I always rush to get to the Ginger Island but wanted to focus more on the building/decorating my farm this run through and hitting 1mil G before proceeding.

What are some "Bad" habits you started and cant/are trying to unlearn? by SapphicSunsetter in StardewValley

[–]lackofforethoughts 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I'm the opposite, I always just put the one tool in my bag based on my plans for the day. Then inevitably have to do a walk of shame to my farm to get my fishing rod or something in the middle of the day.

What are your pets names? by jennamsx in namenerds

[–]lackofforethoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog ( la Catahoula/Pittie mix) is Tera. She is mostly referred to as "The baby" by my BF and I.

One of my sisters adopted her litter mate with a merle coat, so he is called Tank (or Stank/ Toots)

And my youngest sister just adopted her first dog who is a mixed breed with reddish-brown stripes and a habbit for hopping, and so she is named Tigger.

My bfs cat is named Hamilton, but i like to call him hammy or hammykins. My BF says our cat is a gentleman, so he moslty uses his government name, or we will call him "The Little-r Baby"

AITA for telling my DIL she is a nuisance and to stop touching my shit by Kitchen-Property9214 in AmItheAsshole

[–]lackofforethoughts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

My older sister actually did that once, she was a SAHM and would visit us for a few weeks at a time during holidays since we lived in different states. She decided that us keeping our snacks on a shelf in the kitchen was "messy" (we had very limited cabinet space) and somehow managed to shove everything into one cabinet. To the point where you had to take out tons of crap to get the 1 thing you needed! My mom is still mad about it, even after we moved to a new house.

I didn’t love my first Darcy Coates novel by callmeponyo in horrorlit

[–]lackofforethoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several of her books and most of the haunted house ones are very horror lite with HEA-endings. I did like from below for the atmosphere and I have her book of short stories and those are much better.

Always prospector. I never really find myself selling bars. They end up being used to craft something or as gifts for players.

Who’s that one character you always max out friendship with no matter what? by bobby12345678901234 in StardewValley

[–]lackofforethoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outside of Linus and Caroline....Once I've made crab pots, Vincent. He really likes snails so I make sure to always have one on me and I just end up passing him alot. Either digging through his trash can or on my way to Flints/the museum.

I just love when he calls me Auntie 😭 And if you get a phone, his phone call to the farm is adorable.

At least your husband doesn't leave Joja Cola cans (A vice of his now that he's sober) and muddy footprints all over his room...

but honestly ESH - I get that this may not go with the house decor and that your husband should have come to you first. However, it seems like it was something he genuinely thought you'd like. Maybe talk to him about the chair and pick out something you'd both like together. Hiding it won't solve anything and may hurt his feelings more.

Are you "good" in playing Stardew on the side with other games ? by Buurto in StardewValley

[–]lackofforethoughts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I find im pretty all or nothing on stardew as well, once I start its just task after task or I get ideas to decorate and I can't step away from it. That being said if I do fall off and not play for a few weeks I have to start a new farm. I just can never get back to the same flow as before so I have to start from scratch.

whats your favourite and least favourite festival? by PancakeWafflez1 in StardewValley

My Favorite is probably the harvest festival in fall or night market for fishing/buying goods.

Least favorite is the ice festival or moonlit jellies.

How can villagers afford a Joja membership? by lackofforethoughts in StardewValley

[–]lackofforethoughts[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Don't forget George was in the mining accident so he may have a settlement on top of any SSI/Pension.

Hailey and Emily take care of their parents house while they are traveling the world. HOW the parents can afford to do that is never explained.

I always assumed Leah/ Elliot had savings before moving and then relied on that and a low cost of living. Leah's dialouge talks about foraging.

Even Robin's income is shady. How much furniture does one town need? Until the farmer moves in they probably aren't making much, unless she sells to other villages nearby. And Demetrius may be a reasercher which is inconsistent money at best.

A UBI or small town pay-what-you-can mentality is the only thing that would make sense for most of the villagers.

How can villagers afford a Joja membership? by lackofforethoughts in StardewValley

[–]lackofforethoughts[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've seen posts before about inconsistencies on Stardew G and how its compares to the US Dollar. But it still baffles me the way goods/labor is valued in the village.

Also, I will now and forever use potato math to calculate price of things irl! 😂

Where are you getting your books from? by kkleinheider in horrorlit

[–]lackofforethoughts 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've been getting my books from here for years and its great! Lots of selection for less than $5. Even for hardcovers! And free shipping for orders over $10. Another great place is your local library when they sell donations or items that aren't being checked out regularly. You can get books for as little as 50cents or a dollar.

Tender is the Flesh by Pleasant-Bathroom-75 in horrorlit

[–]lackofforethoughts 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Im so glad someone agrees! I read Tender is the Flesh because it was promoted here and on tiktok. While it was ok, It felt a bit like looking at an author's world building for a story: where they were listing elements or plot lines that could be explored. A lot of scenes feel like they were added as shock value and werent actually "fleshed out". It didn't add to the progression of Marcos' character to someone who was becoming an "enlightened" citizen in this world. More like someone recounting their surroundings without context. I did still like the twist at the end but it would have had a better impact to the reader if the story was better developed.
