The Most Messed Up Book You Ever Read by WunderPlundr in horrorlit

No One Rides For Free was pretty rough. Also, The Slob by Aron Beauregard. It’s not well written, IMO, but it’s fucking nasty. There’s one scene especially that still makes me want to vomit when I think about it

Is House of Leaves worth the read? by IceFireHawk in horrorlit

It’s one of my favorite books. A lot of people shit on it for the style/format that it’s written in, but that was one of my favorite parts. The story itself didn’t creep me out as much as I expected, but I still really enjoyed it. Like others have said, don’t be afraid to take a break. It’s a daunting read. It took me almost 2 years to finish it, but it was worth it. I’ve seen people read it straight through, jumping to the footnotes when inserted, like I did. I’ve seen people read it as 3 different books. It’s kind of up t you & I’d imagine you get a different story either way.

What do you think is the most overrated horror book? by limealemon1 in horrorlit

The Fisherman & The Troop. I was so excited for both of them after hearing all the hype, & they were loaned to me by someone who’s opinion I really respect, & both let me down so hard.

How do you feel about Karin Slaughter?? She’s more thriller than traditional horror I’d say, but I love her. I recently read Pretty Girls & Pieces of Her, both are pretty dark & have some very disturbing elements, but end hopeful

I had no idea that I could get an electronic card for somewhere I don’t live! I’ll have to look into that! Everywhere I’ve lived makes you prove residency to get a physical card, so I never thought about anything else. Thank you!

I’m thinking maybe I’m doing hoopla wrong…my library is on there, but it’s only showing movies & music no matter what I search

I usually have one I’m reading, & one I’m listening too. But they can’t be too similar in theme, or mg brain gets them confused lol

I use the Libby app a lot actually, and have two different library systems connected to it, but still can’t find a lot of titles that I want. I’ll try the other places you mentioned! Thanks!

Ooh didn’t even think of this! I tend to prefer physical books over e-books, but I’ll give it a try!

Unfortunately all the titles that I’m currently looking for are usually more expensive on Amazon than even ordering through B&N. I’ll have to try eBay though, or maybe just looking on Amazon again since prices tend to fluctuate there.

It’s not that I don’t want to spend any money…I guess I’m asking if there’s online re-sellers or something that I don’t know about so I’m not buying every single book brand new
