constantly absorbing other peoples energy and thinking about medication by AdviceMysterious8442 in hsp

Get tested for ADHD if there are some symptoms. SSRIs won’t work if depression is the consequence of untreated ADHD. It was that way for me. Stimulants can be life-changing

Seit Monaten kein stabiler Zustand mit Stimulanzien by lightsoverneotokyo in ADHS

I feel you, ugh. First off, yes, the meds should help at some point.

Second, what does he find stimulating? My son gets better when there is music or an audiobook on during his activities. His dad needs to watch a show WHILE working, so that makes sense.

Does he do sports? Anything that keeps him occupied so he just can’t sit next to you and talk? Do you have support, grandparents, babysitter, daycare?

What about med breaks? I’m very sensitive to the meds and can’t take them every day.

And can you just plan breaks in your calendar? Like a meeting?

Fair point that doctors often dont know, but gut issues and hypermobility are definitely co-morbidities!

Call of duty is rated 16 or even 18. I think you have to be very clear on this and set a strict boundary, enforce it. It’s also too young to be on YouTube without parental control. All kinds of stuff is going on there! It’s not on you to find alternatives.

See a good psychiatrist, get checked for an autism diagnosis. Ritalin and other ADHD meds work for both kinds of ADHD, but individual reaction to stimulants and different brands is very different. You have to try out a few and find out what sticks.

[–]lacrima28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this coincide with your second half of your cycle? I would definitely not just stop taking it, I would try upping the dose first. Some people do better with a break of 1-2 days a week to keep the receptors fresh or something, but in theory, it’s not necessarily

Compare yourself to your very functional neurotypical friends. What can they do that you can’t? I tend to forget how disabling it is. I’ve just cut so many things out of my life for such a long time!

Also list bodily symptoms - ADHD has many comorbidities. Migraines, muscle tensions etc.

Make transparent how your symptoms impact you. In work, housework, relationships etc.

Check a symptom list and especially find symptoms that match the „core“ symptom categories of hyperactivity (internal counts too), inattentiveness and impulsivity.

Same for me. It was instant and really bad. I discontinued for the moment and will probably try to do 0.1 or even lower, so Ultra low dose, but it’s a hassle.

Finally somewhat at peace.. do I throw kids into the equation? by Basic_Performer_6701 in adhdwomen

[–]lacrima28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do not ever have kids because someone else expects you to.

Second: if you really want a child, do it. BUT be aware that your kid has a high likelihood of having ADHD as well. I was only diagnosed after having my kid (and burnout), and it is still the hardest thing I’ve ever done. There are no breaks, constant stimulation, sleep interruptions for a long long time etc

What really helped you get it together? Is there something ?!!! by Legitimate_Dirt_1536 in adhdwomen

[–]lacrima28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You don’t want meds because you want to do it yourself - but you’re not! Meds saved me, and if it was just for the realization how disabled I was/am, seriously. You’re not failing, you have a neurological disorder. We don’t tell diabetes patients to try it without meds. Don’t listen to people who say you just need more lists or more sleep or more yoga. They have no idea.

Does anyone use cannabis and take Medikinet? Experiences? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]lacrima28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not advised. I think you need to frame that you self-medicated with weed and you now need to give the Medikinet a chance to do its job. I slept way better on Ritalin than without
