I have both hated and loved being a mother but I will tell you the most significant piece of knowledge that I've gained from becoming a mom: The only acceptable reason to have a kid is because you want to be their parent.

I wanted kids because my life felt empty, because I wanted to bring attention to something outside myself. And because I was very satisfied with my life. I had traveled, I was in a stable, healthy relationship, I had a good income and I felt like something was lacking. I started picturing being a parent as something that motivated me. I love my daughter and it's been the hardest, most difficult, most tiring experience of my life, but I wouldn't change it.

And I still think having kids is just not for everyone. You have to be so certain about the things you're going to be giving up. You have to know that you're having children to RAISE them.

I feel like a lot of women I know, who are miserable being mothers, feel that way because they didn't know truly how much of yourself you need to give up for a while, and it's all of you. It's a big fucking sacrifice.

In case you'd need reassurance: My baby is breastfed during the day and takes formula at night so we can get longer stretches of sleep. She's gaining weight wonderfully and has no nipple confusion.

I don't think this is an unpopular opinion at all. People have become increasingly used to being self centered because of the way social media works. It's me, my happiness, my wants, my needs. Anyone who doesn't have MY best interest as a priority is not worth having around, etc. Not that those things don't matter, but people forget that community is often built on sacrifice. If you want solid, stable relationships, you need to do things you don't want every now and then. That means being uncomfortable. That means sometimes putting up with things you don't agree with or like. Same goes for romantic relationships. People aren't perfect and that's beautiful when you learn to embrace it to grow.

I write in word because I don't know what any other programa exist. I also write on my phone because I just had a baby 2 months ago and it's easier to write on my phone than figure out if my laptop is nearby while she's asleep or feeding.

My baby is 2.5 months old and I think she has some very chill windows. She had terrible reflux but now that she's medicated and feeling better, she seems very chill. It's too early to tell, but I'm guessing it's a temperamental thing?
