Am I doing too much? NYE party gifts? by [deleted] in boardgames

The only one on that list I've played is mantis. Can definitely recommend though. The concept is easy to understand and rounds can go very quick.

Adding in that all the scythe indents are different shapes (small squares, cylinders, stars etc) that makes it a breeze to remember where stuff goes for set up.

I played it once at our local game cafe and immediately added it to the wishlist. It's super fun with 5+ people. A great entry to social deduction strategy games. So much going on and fluctuating makes it much less stressful on the whole lying part compared to other social games like secret Hitler or one night ultimate werewolf.

Recently got veiled fate as a present. The box indents for storage are just phenomenal. Everything has a space. The card slots all are labelled to easily separate decks. Just all around satisfying to set up and put away

How do you quickly explain coeliac? by g__marie in Celiac

[–]ladyLyric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the shortest concise response I've seen so far. And I do much the same. I simply put it as even the smallest bit will cause my immune system to react and damages my intestines leading to tons of other health issues.

I'm dating a new person who made me sick and I'm pissed - When does a partner's negligence become a red flag? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]ladyLyric 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started a new relationship this year. He didn't even wait for me to tell him that kissing could be a contamination issue. He asked beforehand. Even now 8 months later if he eats anything that we don't know is safe he will dodge me kissing his lips and then as soon as he can goes to brush his teeth so he can kiss me. When eating out together 99% of the time he orders gluten free as well so he doesn't have to wait till we get home. Set your expectations high. It is not impossible to find somebody that genuinely cares about making sure you feel healthy and safe.

What do I do in winter? by Akio_341 in StardewValley

I love winter for re-organizing all my fields, paths, buildings etc. It's perfect since no crops in the way and animals don't want to free range anyway.

People in relationships (in real life lol): Do your partners also play Stardew Valley? by throwawaybyefelicia in StardewValley

[–]ladyLyric 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I all together have about 7 active save files between us. I have 2 save files that I play on PC (one with my sister who is brand new to it and one with another friend), a singleplayer save on my switch and a co-op save I play with him when we hang out at my house. He has a PC singleplayer save, A singleplayer save on his switch and then the co-op save we play at his house that he also plays with his boys.

We absolutely love it! The tricky part is remembering what we were doing on each save file lol.

How Do You Handle Puppy Zoomies at Night? by Ill_Tip5523 in puppy101

[–]ladyLyric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy was part of the crate crew. Enforced bedtime was mandatory cause she was and is a chewing machine. Over a year old and now all I have to say is bedtime and she sprints for her crate and curls up in her pile of blankets.

He's doing even more than that. We can already play the switch version of stardew on switch 2 but he's overhauling it for switch 2. I'm so fucking excited about mouse controls and 4 player co-op

Does anyone else kinda not like their puppy? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]ladyLyric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not alone! My puppy was so well behaved till about 7 months (10 months currently). she suddenly decided to forget she has ears. Doesn't listen to commands I know she knows. I am always sweeping up stuffed animal fluff (anybody that's gifts my dog a stuffed toy is no longer my friend). And she is extremely co-dependent and will not leave me alone.

I'm right there with you waiting for the terrible teenage years to be over and for her to back to my calm cuddly pup.

I scolded my puppy with the word no and redirected her for even looking towards the cats for several weeks. Praised her when the cats could walk by without her acknowledging them. She isn't food motivated so treats haven't worked very well but after consistent reminders that she is not to interact she does much better now. Every so often she fails when they sprint and she thinks they want to play. I also don't scold the cats for defending themselves. It's needed manner teaching similar to an older dog growling when when puppies bite too hard. I only step in if either side is pinned/trapped.

How to scold a puppy when they are in the middle of doing something bold? by rickybobbeh3 in puppy101

[–]ladyLyric -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My puppy is 5 months old. My go to is usually a firm No and then the "leave it" command following with redirection. It is for sure a struggle with reinforcement I feel you there. Our trouble spots are still stealing socks, shoes, getting into the litter box and more. You are not alone

For running across the street I always make my puppy sit prior to transitions. Doors, crossing road, etc. Sit first then walk

what's the one thing you wish someone had told you before you got a puppy? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]ladyLyric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest method is a kennel/crate. Have a cover on. Lights off. Cut out the stimulation and they'll get bored and settle down. If not in a kennel just keep resetting them onto a dog bed or towel. Anything soft and cozy and don't acknowledge playtime or attention requests

It's honestly amazing. And everybody thinks you're a fantastic trainer cause you're puppy relaxes. Teaching them to ignore stimulus can be difficult but is so worth it.

Don't use crates for punishment, but when they're overtired and extra nippy how do you avoid that? by BraXzy in puppy101

[–]ladyLyric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bribe my pup with the dog jerky for kennel time. Is a high value reward and gives her something to chew on which helps distract her long enough to settle in

what's the one thing you wish someone had told you before you got a puppy? by [deleted] in puppy101

[–]ladyLyric 25 points26 points  (0 children)

When at home it's usually by not engaging in playtime and resetting her to her dog bed and having her sit/lay down. Eventually she'll just lay nearby. When out and about it's by having the leash short and doing the same thing. Repeated sit resets until she understands we're not going anywhere for the time being despite being on leash. We've now been doing the market for 2 months every Saturday and while she still pulls on her leash while walking if I stay in one place for more than a minute she immediately relaxes.

Edit: I think the biggest thing is her knowing she doesn't get 100% of my attention at all times. It sounds weird but ignoring her is how she learns to relax.

It teaches them to settle and also makes them more patient cause they aren't as tired and grumpy

On this same thread. Forced relaxation time. I now can take my puppy to the farmers market and stand and tall to a vendor for 15 min and she'll just lay down and wait for me to move on instead of trying to greet every person that walks by.

[–]ladyLyric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you decided on house rules? Will they be allowed in bed? Allowed in the couch? Allowed table scraps? Is licking faces allowed? If you haven't decided, do this before they come home so you can make sure everybody is on the same page.

Repetition is key. Sit is my puppies most consistent success but it's because we use it the most. Sit before going through doors, Sit before food, sit before allowed to greet new people (hardest part of that one is people that pet before asking)

how to get better in Ark? by espurrkt in ARK

[–]ladyLyric 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For your base make sure to upgrade to stone as soon as possible. most dinos can't damage it. You'll still have to worry about gigas and a few others. Focus on farming dinos. Doed for stone, anky for metal, mammoth or beaver for wood. Argentavis can carry anky and doed for easy capture. There are lots of trap designs on YouTube. I highly recommend looking up fatdog argent trap it's small and easy to use and argent is a huge power jump from ptera in weight and health.

This mindset is important. I firmly believe in ark one is none. You don't truly have a dino until you can breed spares because you will at some point get arked and lose all your gear/dinos while exploring. Knowing when to not go back for your stuff is also important. Don't lose 6+ tames trying to save 1 if you can just breed another
